Wasn't sure where to put this, or if there is another one in existence already, but I couldn't find it. I'm going to be watching a lot of non-Red Sox baseball this spring, based on the MLB.tv schedule, and dang it I want to stream my observations! I need baseball game threads back in my life, so I'm starting one catch-all.

Anyhow, Marcus Stroman is really good. Obviously, ST results need to be taken with a lot of salt, but watching him against the Phillies, he has some absolutely nasty stuff. Threw an 0-2 breaking pitch to the leadoff hitter that was just unfair, after a few well-placed fastballs; right down the middle, but absolutely fell off the table at the last second. Went from looking like a strike to almost bouncing, and the bat missed it by a good six inches. I hate that he is on the Blue Jays, but I am looking forward to watching him grow up on the mound.

That sound of a well-struck ball off the bat is a beautiful thing. Also, apparently Andrew Bailey is trying to carve out a role with the Phils now. Crazy what his path has been since the Sox got him.

JP Arencibia, still tantalizing us with his catcher power, blasts one out to center. Remember when he was one of those 'his bat will play anywhere, even if he can't catch' guys like Montero?

Heyward and Madbum got into a weird altercation just now.

Edit: At first blush it looked like Heyward was staring down Madison after the strikeout and understandably Madison took offense, he gave up something like 8 runs so he was probably already ticked off. ESPN seems to think Heyward was telling Fowler, who was on 2B, that he didn't do a good job relaying location. Still weird.

The cradle of the game.
At 1:05ET STL and PIT open the regular season, then at 3:05ET Cubs play at LAA in a Cactus League game... only to play a 2-game regular season set Monday and Tuesday. Assuming either club can only play their 25 man rosters, what could possibly go wrong?
