I just ordered one of my kids a Gronk jersey for Christmas.
Good work.

I took my kids (then 10 and 6) to their first Pats game in Foxboro last season and they each walked out of the Pro Shop with Gronk jerseys.

Does Sergio fucking Brown really, honestly believe he locked down Rob Gronkowski? He was the worst member of a secondary that had Julian Edelman playing meaningful snaps.
Too much credit.  He couldnt play for that secondary. Matt Slater and Nate Dogg Jones beat him out midseason

Looking at last nights FU TD, I counted six men that he prevented from tackling him, and there's at least one he avoided with each of his 4 tools: 1. Quickness 2. Speed 3. Strength and 4. Edelman

I enjoyed number 21 making a business decision to kinda sorta get blocked out of the play in the end zone then just get a fatality from Gronk just cuz.

I think Gronkowski is better, when healthy. "Much" better?  I wonder about that -- acknowledging different eras and teams can be tough to compare.  (I'll bet you know what I've linked to, below)

"Parcells says he's the kind of guy he wants on his side, in a street fight, a football game or whatever, and here's why...."

Gronk tossing Brown out of the club clip + FU TD clip = 'here's why'.

I thought 21 took a pretty solid hit from Gronk.

Am I seeing the replay right? Gronk catches it with his right hand (both hands but right dominated) switched to his left on the spin move, takes the karate chop with his right arm, then immediately switches the ball back to his right hand to stiff arm the guy coming from his left, and then just sprints and leaps into the end zone?

You could try to spike a ball 1,000 times and not get it as perfect as that.

Anyone remember who the player was who ran into Gronk when Gronk first broke his arm on the PAT?

Sergio Brown.

I've been telling my wife for awhile that Gronk reminds me of Mark Bavaro, but much better obviously. But, then I just read Bavaro's Wikipedia page. Wow. They are very different folks off the field.
Belichick was the Giants DC when Bavaro was around as well as the Browns HC during Bavaro's stint at the Browns, and he's compared Gronk to Bavaro a number of times (links below), including just last Monday.

Two observations: on the Julian Edelman end around that had Gronk blocking out in front (I think that was the play but it might have been a screen pass), Gronk was just as fast as Edelman. That is remarkable. Gronk looks slower because he takes longer, goofy looking strides, but the distance between him and Edelman stayed the same as the play developed.

2) Like everyone else, that touchdown had me uncontrollably smiling. I think I might have even giggled. So glad he is a Patriot.

That could just be Edelman slowing down to stay behind his block, no?  Or do guys not do that because NFL defenses are so fast you take what you can get?

Not sure why I didn't notice this before, and I don't feel like wading through the game thread to see if it has been brought up, but Adams' karate chop on Gronk after he spun out of the first tackle on his touchdown was clearly an attempt to re-break Gronk's arm.

The ball had already been switched to the other arm, and Adams made no attempt to tackle - he just swung as hard as he could down on Gronk's forearm.

If I had any tech savvy I'd try to find or make a .gif of it, but I don't I can't. But seems pretty clear when I saw a highlight on NESN just now and was able to rewind and watch it in slow motion.

Also, NESN Sports Today Live is some serious low quality television.

I think he was just swatting away the stiff-arm.  Saying he was trying to break the arm seems like a bit of a stretch.

Dude, football's hard, bodies move fast. The guy was trying to tackle him. That's all.

Football is fast and difficult? No shit?

"___ is hard, yo" is my least favorite internet phrase of recent times. Well, maybe not the least favorite, but it's up there.

When someone is trying to bat down a stiff arm they are either wrapping up with the other arm or moving in to try to make a tackle. Adams wasn't doing that. He was taking a swing at Gronk's forearm, when the ball had been in the other arm for a couple steps. Whether he thought "I'm going to try to re-break this" is obviously unknowable, and I'm not outraged or anything. Just thought it was interesting.

If Adams had actually made an effort to tackle Gronk, as opposed to just swinging at an outstretched arm in frustration he would likely have saved himself the flattening Edelman gave him too.

I think he was swatting at the ball in a futile attempt to cause a fumble since he realized he had close to zero percent chance to actually tackle him.  I think your explanation does not make much sense at all.  Gronk is out there blocking 300 pound guys and landing hard on that arm all game long, and Adams was going to re-break the arm by giving it a little bitch slap?  I think he's trying to swat at the ball.

Yeah plus the broken arm was two years ago now. I don't even remember which arm it was. Highly doubt Adams had that in his head at full speed.

Yea...not convinced it was an attempt to re-injure.  In Poon 14s defense (odd line to write....)  I did think it was an awkward action for the defensive player to perform when i saw it live and subsequent replays.

Almost more of a  "Get your Stiff arm AWAY!"...  kind of frustration move.  Not even a "technique thing"  but more a whiny bitch thing.  If that makes sense.

I agree about his swatting at the ball and I posted in the game thread that he looked like he'd rather do that than try to bring down the raging bull, or angry bull.

“@MikeReiss: Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski was fined $8,268 for unnecessary roughness vs. Colts (continued to block opponent after play was over).”

The fine was for admitting he did it intentionally.  If he hadn't later said "I just decided to throw him out of the club", and instead said "I didn't realize the play was over, I hope he's OK, I didn't see how close we were getting to the equipment", probably no fine.

It's the cost of new straps, because Brown's clearly were defective.

That's the same amount that Suggs got for trying to end Blount's career. Cool.

It's $7500 * 1.1025.

All the fines seem to be a round number, times that 1.1025

I'm guessing somewhere there's an elevator clause in the fines that added 10% for some purpose, and the extra .25% for another reason.

5% twice: 1.1025 = 1.05 * 1.05

My father said that was as close to a "John Hannah" play as he's seen in a long time. Hannah is before my time, but my father raves about him. Anyone else get that feeling when watching Gronk block?

Interesting.  For those too young to remember, Hannah was pretty much the left side from around 75 to 85 and was pretty much recognized as all-world during that time.  He was usually good to just absolutely flatten someone once a game.  And by flatten I mean make the defender feel like he was less of a man.  One of the best of all time.  Period.  Is Gronk that good at TE?  Time will tell.  However, most people seem to agree that when he is on, he's one of the best they've ever seen.

Belichick to Gronk after his TD catch last week: "They can't [f'ing] tackle you.
