Seems like a good idea to get all the talk in one thread.

The WEST playoff seeding is decided - with only home court advantage for UTA/LAC as the 4/5 to be decided. So we are looking at

(1) GSW vs (8 ) POR
(2) SAS vs (7) MEM
(3) HOU vs (6) OKC
(4) LAC vs (5) UTA

The EAST has quite a few things up for grabs still. I'll try to get them all listed here

(1) BOS grabs this with either a BOS win or a CLE loss. CLE grabs it is with a CLE win and BOS loss
(2) CLE or BOS are locked into the 2 seed
(3) TOR
(4) WAS
(5) (6) (7) Too many scenarios, but ATL can't fall further than (7), MIL can't fall further than (6), and IND can finish as high as (6) or fall all the way out of the playoffs
(8) MIA has tiebreaker over CHI

There is a scenario where IND is out of playoffs if they lose and both MIA and CHI win.

I'm pretty sure Miami needs to win and have one of Chicago or Indiana lose to sneak in. The Hawks need one win to lock up the 5 seed.

A hundred times this, especially living in the northeast. It goes beyond the NBA playoffs, obviously, but I forget how glorious mid-April through June are in Boston. And I've lived here for 15+ years.

It's the time of year when Pop actually tries. Love it.

So my two options (LAC) are a coronation of the young jazz in the first round or a getting swept by an average of 30 ppg vs the warriors....Hmm.

Ideally, I would like to see

(1) BOS vs (8) CHI - feels like this is the easiest first round opponent for Celts
(2) CLE vs (7) IND - Lebron vs George
(3) TOR vs (6) MIL - would be a fun series to watch
(4) WAS vs (5) ATL - Meh

I'd be especially excited to watch the highlighted. Bucks have gone 16-7 since ~when Middleton's minutes restriction was lifted back on March 1st.

Giannis will give Carroll (or Ibaka, if he's going to be playing the four) fits, and Middleton vs. Derozan should be a fun match-up, too. If DeRozan doesn't stay attached, Middleton could pile up some points fast.

With Brogdon/Delly, and Snell, Teletovic and Middleton splitting up at the 2/3, this team is really fucking good at shooting the 3. Mirza is the only one of those guys below 35%, and Brogdon, Snell, and Middleton are all above 40%. If they share the ball, have a good shooting series, and drape Giannis and Middleton over Derozan, Toronto will be in trouble.

OK, with ATL win, they are now the 5th seed, with MIL the 6th seed.

7 and 8 still up for grabs, but it is a shame that the opposing teams against IND, CHI, MIA are all going to rest.

IND has ATL, who is locked into the 5 seed.

CHI has BRK, who are resting players for some reason

MIA has WAS, who are locked into the 4 seed

I think GS is coming out of the west in boring fashion (hope I'm wrong)

The east is something else. If Cle has something approaching their A game, it's them. But if not, I could see Toronto, Milwaukee, or the Celtics making the finals.

Milwaukee actually matches up well against GS and the Greek freak winning the title this year would be cooler than the other side of the pillow.

I'm a little nervous about the Cs. Hope they get through round 1.

I know the references are to coming out of the west, but that juggernaut lost three in a row and the finals to Bron and the Bronnettes last year so they weren't exactly an irresistible force. Yes, Durant, but let's not crown their ass just yet.

I'd take GSW vs the field to come out of the West, and probably to win it all. I'd take the field over Cleveland to come out of the East, but only at even odds.

Unfortunately I think both GS and the CAVS are great bets against the field and that we'll end up with two great playoff series - round 1 of OK/HOU and the finals rematch.

I don't think a Cavs vs Warriors rematch would be very close. If Durant is healthy GS is a better team than they were last year and Cleveland is significantly worse. I also don't see Cleveland losing one game en route to the finals as the East is much better this year than they were last season.

I love Westbrook but I don't know how OKC competes with the top three teams in the West. They just can't shoot threes with those teams and pile up those 40 point quarters the way the other teams can. I suppose the one way they can do it is if Westbrook has a nuclear series, guys like Roberson, Oladipo etc. have really good shooting series and they bury teams on the boards. The Thunder are the best rebounding team in basketball, which of course makes the fact that Westbrook averaged over 10 rebounds a game even more amazing.

Roberson and Adams were both great when they needed them in the playoffs last year, it'll be interesting to see if Houston can play playoff-quality defense.

I would like to see Warriors/Spurs. We didn't get that last year and I felt robbed even though OKC put up a hell of a fight.
