This is a low-content post, but I’m hoping:

1. I can find the game to watch from Berlin.
2. I can manage to stay awake for the whole thing.
3. And most importantly, my streak of watching Northeastern hockey losses on television, comes to an end tonight.

Let’s go Huskies!
You might want to turn off the game now and give NU a chance. [emoji1]

I don't know what was wrong with NU, but they looked awful (I'm sure some of it was Cornell, but the teams' respective seasons would suggest that wasn't all of it). I don't think anyone had a good game.

Some of it was a bad matchup. NU struggles with big, defensive minded teams. Providence is another example, they haven't been able to beat the Friars at all the last couple of years.

But this team was a lot better than what they showed today. It's hard to win in this tournament but I'm incredibly disappointed they couldn't even make it competitive. Long way to go for this program still, and I'd be lying if I wasn't seething with jealousy at UMass making it to Buffalo.

Rebuild starts now for NU. Primeau is signing with Montreal so I think it may be a little bit before NU is back here.

I attended my first UMass hockey game in 96-97. It was me and about 30 of my fellow students and about 500 locals in a rink that held 8500. We lost.
To be in Manchester tonight, seeing some of those same people that watched that debacle with me 22 seasons ago, it was sublime. I’ve seen a lot of bad hockey and taken a lot of emotional beatings in the time since then, but tonight went a long way towards healing some of that. It was very emotional.

Congrats!! I'm really happy for you guys. Well deserved after everything the program has been through.

Hey thanks. It’s been a fun season, really hope it continues.

Sorry about your boys- I thought Cornell was very underrated coming int the tourney, but that looked like a no-show by your guys, which is tough (see UMass/BC last Friday). Even if you’ve got to take a step back into the pack for a year or two, don’t forget how awesome this last couple of seasons has been between NCAA appearances, Beanpots, HE championships. Been a great run. Hope it continues...was really nice to see this league without BC/BU/UNH (closet Maine supporter here, but I get it) at the top. Hopefully us “lesser schools” can keep the run going.

Agreed, it was really cool seeing the new wave of PC/UML/UMass/NU have home ice and host the old guard BC/BU/UNH/Maine in the quarterfinal series. The league is better off for it (although I'd love to see a Maine/UNH revival at some point).

At the end of the day it's remarkable how NU is now at the point where we're expecting to win a tourney game. It wasn't that long ago that the only thing we could look forward to was a heartbreaking loss at the Garden for the Beanpot. Expectations have shifted. The Frozen Four and a national title is the next step for this program, I just hope they manage to get there someday.

Same thing happened in 2015 when PC won the Natty as a 4 seed playing the regional at The Dunk.
Where were the finals that year? And who were they playing?

Edit: they do it for attendance...it sucks, but that’s where the sport is at.

Not sure why Quin kept with the EN after making it 2-1. Plenty of time to score one traditionally I thought.

It sucks. If they really want to do it for attendance, why have a regional in Allentown, for crying out loud? What's wrong with a 2nd regional out west? (MN or CO, to go along with ND)

Prov probably was the one region that didn't need help with attendance anyway, but I guess I understand.

I was very impressed with QU when they played UMass earlier this year. I thought they were the best team I saw UMass play.

There are not enough bidders for a second western regional. The big distances between schools out west ensure the crowds will be small, unless it's in Sioux Falls or Fargo. Reports indicate that Allentown will once again host the "Midwest' regional in 2020.

I know I ask this every year, but why is there so much time in between games? Why couln't they play tonight and Sunday, and wouldn't even go up against bball?

What a goddamn game. Congrats to UMass. I hope someday NU has the kind of moment that the Minutemen just had.

I think I'm rooting for for you guys Saturday if I can keep my seething jealousy in check.

‘83 alum here. Never thought I’d live to see the day. Congratulations to Dummy Hoy who is much more emotionally invested than I. This is a long way from what I used to see. Go Minutemen!

That moment is great, but it's not the national title. ND has had two of those moments (both against Michigan no less) and is still waiting for its first title.

UMass vs Minnesota-Duluth for the national championship on ESPN2. UMass down 1-0 at the first period intermission.

UMass down 2-0 after 2. Duluth trying to be first team to repeat in 14 years and they're 20 minutes away with a PP for 1:42 when 3rd period resumes

And as with all great teams, the Duluth captain needs some toothwork

Congratulations to UMD for the championship repeat. The Duluth defense was very good and dominant from start to finish, and they deserved this one. I went to a lot of UMass games in the '01-'07 time period when I lived in the area, and this team was a lot of fun to watch. Congratulations and thanks to UMass for such an exciting season making the Frozen Four and championship game.
