It’s gonna be so effin’ sweet this Sunday when Brady reveals he’s not actually right handed.
Tom shocks the world by introducing an entirely new thumb-friendly throwing motion that nobody has seen before, and is somehow the best in the world at that too.

I wonder if Giselle is sitting somewhere browsing the internet and wondering how she managed to marry the only man on the planet subjected to more ridiculous public physical scrutiny than she was.

I hope she gives him crap about being a hand model or whatever kinda trash super models talk.

Isn't there a member here named 'nothumb?' Brady has been here all along. I always thought he'd turn out to be SuperNomario, though...

I mean, even if it were a minor hand injury, would anyone want him practicing and exposing it further anyway? Seems like this shouldn't be a shock based on yesterday's tepid announcements.

Same board where everyone freaked about putting Gronk on the FG unit, yes?

Yes, commence freakout (by many).

This is going to be a fun 72 hours to gametime.

And then he'll put up TB numbers Sunday.

You gotta give it to the Pats---I thought they couldn't top last season's "Brady suspension + Super Bowl comeback" for drama but when they sign Colin Kaepernick tomorrow and then win the Super Bowl with him that is going to have real social impact.

No I wouldn’t want him practicing. Because timing with receivers is vastly overrated, because I can’t imagine B.B. and Josh wanting to practice situational football, and because it’s inconceivable that they would want to dust off plays in the book that maybe haven’t been used in a couple of months.

Is resting an injury for a day or two when necessary overrated?

I don't think Brady not practicing is really a big deal. He was out there, did his stretches and whatnot then likely headed back into trainer's room.

No, of course. But that's based on an assumption that an extra day or two of rest is going to make a big difference, and I am not getting that vibe from our resident ortha surgeon

Can't even imagine how people would be feeling right now if we were expecting to need the offense to drop 30 to beat the Steelers.

This is unreal. I had joked with my wife last week about this exact situation as the Jags have had the most amazing run of opponent QB luck this year. On the bright side, it is looking like my wife will be happy on Sunday. Never a bad thing.

That’s true but it sort of assumes that it doesn’t matter if Tom practices on Wednesdays and Thursdays in general. Yet there’s getting sharp, working on the plays they are going to run — or some of them — and the fact that we often hear them say after a game that they had a good week of practice and now that helped in the game.

Make no mistake, if rest will help Tom, I agree of course that rest is best. I just don’t think it’s necessarily the case that the QB not practicing is of little or no importance.

Rapport has said that Brady is still expected to play and should be able to work himself into health as we get closer to Sunday. I feel like if this was a major injury the national media would be all over it with exhausting coverage, so far it has just been a side story on every major site (ESPN, SI, CBS Sports, etc). If this was truly something major wouldn't they be splashing it as the above the fold center headline? The lead story on ESPN is about Austin Rivers currently. Brady isn't even mentioned anywhere on the main page currently.

Hopefully this is just a blip and they're being cautious and we'll laugh about the angst after Brady and company lift another trophy in two and half weeks.

Here
I’m unclear why anyone thought he’d actually practice today. If he jammed a finger or hand, why do anything to potentially aggrivate it?

Isn't the point that no one knows exactly how serious it is because Belichick, Brady, and co aren't going to tip their hand (excuse the pun) to anyone?

Yes they operate in secrecy, but if the national media had an inkling that this was really serious they'd be in wall to wall coverage of speculation. So far its been fairly minimal to say the least. This is for a trip to the Super Bowl, not a game in late September. If they thought this was a big deal they'd be all over it. Patriot haters would eat it up because of their feelings towards the Pats, and we'd be sitting on every word waiting for updates (kind of like now). We know how ESPN loves to blow up every Pats story and so far it has been crickets from them.

The Post I replied to noted that Brady missing practice was not a big deal. And while that’s true, it’s also true that it would be better if he was in there working with the offense.

This is really a side point. The main point is that I’m incredibly freaking freaked.

I agree, but the media doesn't always get to choose when they will come upon information that gives them such an inkling.

Regardless, I think we're on the cusp of wild speculation in the media anyways.

Maybe I'm just clutching at straws (I am), but the fact that Reiss confidently reported "from someone close to Brady" that “'Hand should be OK.' Could affect him slightly but belief is that he should be good overall." makes me have hope. I don't think Reiss is a guy that would let himself get snowed by a source. Fingers crossed.

TB numbers...like, 12? Are you thinking we score 12 points? 12 TD's? 12 completions?
What does this mean?!?!?

Also, yknow what we're looking at, right?

Bloody sock, what have you done for me lately?

Now if you see Coach Belichick please tell him "Thanks a lot"
I cannot move my fingers are all in a knot
I don't have the strength to get up and take another shot
And my best friend, Alex Guerrero, won't even say what it is I've got

That's some spread; you could buy a point and hope to middle. Not me, I'm just saying a degenerate could.
It's not as wide as you think. Look at the juice on the +9 line. You could try to middle, but I think you'd be paying way too much for it to be a profitable play. I thought the same thing when I initially saw those spreads.
