IS this the day we go after a QB (Steelers got a steak in Rudolph in Rd 3 FWIW)....

Gotta think a LB at some point very soon...

Assuming Falk and Lauletta get picked elsewhere this weekend, do any of you gurus have thoughts on QBs the Pats could pick up as UDFAs? Guys like Woodside or Kyle Allen?

If Hurst keeps falling I would love to see the Pats take him instead of risking him becoming a UDFA. NFL Network reported a lot of teams have him off their board but if he’s still around come the sixth round they should use one of their picks on him.

For linebackers, I wouldn’t mind seeing Micah Kiser here (led the ACC in tackles three straight years).

Josh Sweat is still available at DE.

Maurice Hurst was ranked by many as the #1 DT in the draft - how long will he slide with the heart condition? PFF gave him their highest rating ever for what it’s worth.

I don't see any way he goes undrafted. I think he's gone in the 4th or early 5th. Would love the Patriots to take him.

I watched with a buddy last night and we were discussing Maurice Hurst. Growing up my best friend died at 15 on a soccer field because he had an undetected heart condition and of course there wasn’t a defibrillator. Louis Savino was a straight A student and a sports nut. It’s shocking if you dig into how many young athletes die each year from undetected heart conditions (and Lou’s mom did and started a foundation).

I don’t think Hurst’s exact problem leaked out and that actually makes me happy. And as much as I love him I get why he has slipped. I wonder though when someone is going to pull the trigger and take that risk.

Wonder if they are thinking Manziel?

Chad Kanoff (Princeton) is another guy @mascho has mentioned. I could also see them going reclamation project here. Guys like Christian Hackenberg, Connor Cook, Nathan Peterman, C.J. Beathard, Cardale Jones, etc. could all become available based on other moves those teams have made. Did NE like any of them coming out?

Josh Sweat is still available at DE.

I'd love either of these, though we've been burned on interior penetrators with heart problems before (remember Armond Armstead?). Hard to imagine a guy with Sweat's profile is still out there without some injury / off-field also.

Woodside no, but I do like Kyle Allen, as a Matt Cassell, intelligent college backup type. UDFA only. Wouldn't even waste a 7th on him.

I like Florio, a lot. For selfish fanboy reasons, I’m grateful he often has had our backs. But this may be the most preposterous thing he has written about them:

Our draft plans are being thwarted because the team is leaking all over the place:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/04/28/three-rounds-in-no-new-quarterback-for-the-patriots/
That's a messy piece that goes in multiple directions. Basically the Pats have "leaked" their interest in Lauletta, yet Lauletta remains undrafted...but when they "leaked" their interest in Evans and Jackson [and Landry], Evans and Jackson [and Landry] got drafted? I don't follow the logic.

That first pick in the 4th is going to be interesting. The options would appear to be...

1.) QB. The draft will have reached the point where the value for Lauletta is adequate to good. Fallback: Falk with the next pick could also be an option.

2.) Edge. As a Wake Forest fan/dad, I've seen a ton of Ejiofor and love his game speed and hustle. Sweat and Okoronkwo also look like they offer value here. I think those three stand out, so if the Pats have a lower-round binky they're saving, God bless them.

3.) Coverage linebacker. There are options here likely to survive to the next pick or two -- Sam, Moore..

4.) Trade down. Because that's what they do.

5.) Some other high-value/not-as-obvious-need spot. WR, TE, safety

Edit: actually, TE is a pretty good positional priority..and Dissly is interesting

I don't know Hurst's medicals or Sweat's. I do know their tape though.

Guys I like available:

Duke Ejiofor, EDGE, Wake Forest - they met with him twice.
Josh Sweat, EDGE, Florida - medicals and character concerns
Christian Sam, LB, Arizona State
Josey Jewell, LB, Iowa - man if he were just a bit bigger and more athletic he'd be such a stud. Said about so many day 3 LB prospects
Damon Webb, Ohio State, Safety
Keke Coutee, WR, Texas Tech
Trey Quinn, WR/Hugebinkie, SMU - love him as a slot receiver. Also, he could drop a little weight and gain speed. He apparently is a blaze when he is lighter. Best hands in the class at WR I think. Brady will love him.
Braxton Berrios, WR, Miami
EQ St. Brown, WR, Notre Dame
Daesean Hamilton, WR, Penn State - kind of surprised me he is available now but he was a divisive prospect.

Oh yeah, Shaquem Fucking Griffin, LB/EDGE/BAMF, UCF. You like special teams players Bill. He could be an elite one! Also in my humble opinion I think he could develop into a rotational sub-package guy or, who knows, maybe more.

Of course I want Hurst too but am very troubled by the heart condition. I fell in love with his tape though.

What is the % of Lauletta getting picked? None of the teams ahead of NE (seem to) need a QB.
I've been wrong a lot so far so when I say 10% it's probably a lock. So many really solid guys left I think that I hope they pass for now.

This is about where they drafted Trey Flowers. Still some guys out there that can help the defense.

Keke "Cutie" will be his name now and forever into eternity. It fits too with his size.

So what leads ESPN to set up a camera in the living room of Temple DB Sean Chandler, with a graphic touting him as “Two-time second team All-ACC”?

I started on the treadmill with the fist pick and vowed not to get off till the Pats pick. This could be a record breaking run.

Just don’t want to hear again, “we have x rounds left” when needs are not addressed round 1. It’s absurd.
