Anticipating the games two weekends from now, MLB.com has just posted the list here (for reference, here are last year's). Since we care most about the Sox' names, I'll post them below.

I'm kind of partial to "Late Lightning" (Steve Pearce) and "Cabezon" (Hector Velazquez - a.k.a. Big Head). Though Dan Butler missed big time on a chance for "JEEVES" ... and Brian Johnson might want to rethink his.

Matt Barnes: "BARNACLES"
Andrew Benintendi: "BENNY"
Mookie Betts: "MOOKIE"
Xander Bogaerts: "BOGIE"
Jackie Bradley Jr.: "JBJ"
Dan Butler: "BUTLER"
Rafael Devers: "CARITA"
Nathan Eovaldi: "EVO"
Heath Hembree: "HEATER HERE"
Marco Hernandez: "MARKITO"
Brock Holt: "BROCKSTAR"
Brian Johnson: "BJ"
Joe Kelly: "JIMMY B"
Ian Kinsler: "BOOTSIE"
Craig Kimbrel: "DIRTY CRAIG"
Sandy Leon: "NOAH"
Austin Maddox: "MADD DAWG"
J.D. Martinez: "FLACO"
Mitch Moreland: "2 - BAGS"
Eduardo Nunez: "NUNIE"
Steve Pearce: "LATE LIGHTNING"
Dustin Pedroia: "PEDEY"
Drew Pomeranz: "BIG SMOOTH"
Rick Porcello: "VEINTIDÓS"
David Price: "SLIM DUNKIN"
Eduardo Rodriguez: "EL GUALO"
Chris Sale: "THE CONDUCTOR"
Carson Smith: "SMITTY"
Blake Swihart: "SWI"
Tyler Thornburg: "THORN"
Christian Vazquez: "COLO"
Hector Velazquez: "CABEZON"
Brandon Workman: "WORK"
Steven Wright: "KNUCKSIE"

What's the inside scoop on Joe "Jimmy B" Kelly?

Also, isn't Mitchy 2-Bags a SoSH original? Would love to see a game thread inspired SoSH list for these guys.

Gotta love Pedroia is still having influence on the team despite being away rehabbing. He's apparently 100% responsible for Sale's nickname. When asked, Sale referred reporters to Pedroia to explain "The Conductor". Pedroia's answer: "Because he punches tickets".

Vintage Pedey. What the heck does “Noah” mean (Leon)?

This is sad:

Blake Swihart: "SWI"
Tyler Thornburg: "THORN"
Brandon Workman: "WORK"

It's like they wanted their full last names, but the team ran out of letters.

How about some historical Sox nicknames. I'm sure you guys can come up with a ton of these.

Dick Stuart: STRANGEGLOVE
Dick Radatz: MONSTER or MASH (as in Monster Mash)
Otis Nixon: MY MAN
Larry Anderson: BAGWELL FOR

...Would Ted Williams' be SPLINTER or BALLGAME?

Thanks for this...ever since some game threaders started to refer to him as King Kimbrel - he's sucked.

It's a stupid nickname. There's already a "King" who used to be good but now sucks. It's unimaginative.

On the other hand...I'm really looking forward to watching Dirty Craig trot in from the bullpen (and I choose my own definition of "dirty")

Jose Santiago: Palillo

George Scott: the Boomer

Carlton Fisk: Pudge

You can look up all you want on BBREF.
