Lunardi and USA Today both have the ACC getting 4 bids. Damn, that's low. And only NC State is listed as a "Second Four Out", no teams in the "First Four Out". Bad, bad year for that league.

The ACC sucks, there is no arguing it. I think Louisville, Duke, and FSU could all make a Final Four run, or even win it all though - it is as wide open a year as any.

Heels blow a 15 point lead with 8:30 to play, Notre Dame nails a 3 with 2.4 ticks left, down go the Heels... again. Winless since Cole’s return

Literally karma season for years of cheating. Last second 3 to lose AGAIN

any other program coach would be on the hot seat losing so many games so poorly

You should see them in Winston-Salem...
They actually didn’t play horribly last night IMO. They showed up and fought. But they were called for an insane number of fouls. They also simply pissed away the ball when up 8-9 late. A deserved loss. K seems pissed that they haven’t grown up yet.

It's a coverup for the fact that Duke just really wants UNC to finish last in the ACC

Real interesting matchup for Duke tomorrow when they head to Virginia and one of the best coaching jobs taking place this season by Tony Bennett.

I was very wrong about UVA - you'll be hard-pressed to find a better job by anybody than TB has done with that team given what they lost. 7-1 in one possession games and heck, they might win the ACC again.

this is his best coaching job in his tenure at UVA.

Doesn’t matter whether UVA is playing Charlottesville High or the Celtics, will be a 3 point game in the 50s. I wouldn’t want to be a top seed facing them on the first weekend of the tournament.

Tony B is a wizard.

Lunardi has them as a 9 seed in the Kansas region today. I'm pretty sure Kansas would take them out easily, but it's definitely not a team you love seeing in the second round, especially with virtually no prep time.

Don’t sell yourself short. Early in the year they were god awful there is no getting around that. The doomsday scenario for UVA ended back in January though as Bennett should get some COY votes for the job he has done in-season along with Kelvin Sampson, Cooley, and some others.

Hoos are up to 45 in kenpom. #2 in D, but still at #221 in O. For a while I think they were closer to the 300 range on O so they've definitely made great strides.

Wonder where the Hoos end up. I think they deserve better than a 7. Maybe even be up to a 4/5 which should terrify the one seed that gets paired with them.

If I was a 1 seed, I'd be more terrified of them as an 8/9 than a 4/5, especially with the lack of prep time.

Carolina was just ahead of the curve in skipping the NCAA tournament over coronavirus fears.
They can't even watch it now...

Statement from the Atlantic Coast Conference (Wednesday, March 11):
In light of the rapidly changing landscape regarding COVID-19, the latest developments nationally from health authorities and today’s announcement by the NCAA COVID-19 Advisory Panel, the ACC will alter the remainder of the ACC Tournament.

After consultation with the league’s presidents and athletic directors, it was determined that beginning Thursday, March 12, all games will be played with only essential tournament personnel, limited school administrators and student-athlete guests, broadcast television and credentialed media members present.

Watch them get 8 next year.

Too bad we couldn't give Diakite, Key, and Kersey a nice send off. I would like to have seen what they could do in a weak field this year.
Wonder if this cancellation is going to bring more potential one-and-dones back for a second season.

Is this a misunderstanding, or did the ACC really award Florida State the ACC Conference TOURNAMENT championship?

I know this doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things happening in the world right now, but if that’s true, that’s just...awful. They literally did nothing to earn the ACC tournament championship. They didn’t even play a single game yet.

The ACC should have awarded them the regular season championship, which they earned, and simply said there’s no tournament champion this year because, well, the tournament got canceled before it could be finished.

I really hope this is just a misunderstanding of what transpired. Anyone know the real scoop?

I think they were declared ACC champions, which they are. Traditionally the ACC has a regular season champ and a tourney champ. With no tourney, there is one champ, which is FSU. Which is fine and fair.

Ok yes THAT is fair. But there were numerous articles that suggested that they were awarded the TOURNAMENT championship too, which would have been wrong. But it seems like that's not actually the case. Ok good. Thanks.

Not that traditionally - the tourney champ was the champ until recently when they added a regular season thing to make unc feel better

Yeah they had to award a ACC Champion (tourney champ) for seeding purposes for the NCAA tourney (which wasn't cancelled at the time). Someone had to be the winner at least on paper.

I'm wondering if they are seriously considering allowing winter sports, like baskeball, to have an extra eligible season like they are with spring sports. I saw it out there but not sure thats real or even realistic.

Too bad they didn’t pause it during Trump’s press conference. Missed the second half and went straight into the 1983 title game already in progress. So dumb.
So why the fuck didn’t they play the last 2 seconds of the NC State / Houston game?
