Also, shot clock only resetting to 20 seconds on offensive board.

(in fairness that's likely in the link, but not everyone clicks through)

I think moving the line back is the right move, but boy I think games are going to be really painful to watch, especially early on.

Kids aren't going to stop shooting them, they'll just be missing more of them.

Love that the football team is included as well. Obviously not helping too much. Wonder what Self is looking at in terms of suspension?

One great idea (3pt line), and one god awful idea.

Maybe I should just be happy they didn't use the ridiculous advance the ball with a time out that fake basketball has.

Holy shit. Not surprising but hilarious. Alright, now fall to the Memphis pick of it conveys.

He’s now eligible after suing the NCAA and getting a TRO.
Now Wiseman is back to ineligible again and Memphis is applying for reinstatement.

Call me crazy but how does a high school coach pay for a family to move so the kid can play at Penny's high school, Penny then becomes the college coach and the kid ends up there after previously committing to Kentucky, be anything but a major rules violation?

Do high school wins get vacated? Does anyone even care? Do we know why this was even challenged? Seems like an obvious infraction of NCAA rules.

He got a tech for mouthing off to the Kansas player. I've got no problem with Monmouth playing to the buzzer, but mouthing off when you lose by 50 is just stupid
I'm with you. No excuse for the mouthing off, classless move. But I have no problem with the Monmouth player stripping the 4 * (top 65 national player last year),and taking it down for the dunk. Kansas ran the score up in a massive way. They never slowed their pace. They had at least 2 starters still in the game with 7 minutes to play up by more than 50, and even in the last 70 seconds, Kansas took 2 early shot clock 3 pointers (admittedly by a walk on)

Vermont won tonight at St. John's for their first high major win in a decade. Anthony Lamb broke a tie with 1.9 seconds left with a sweet elbow jumper. He's a legit NBA prospect playing in the America East which is rare. UVM plays Tuesday night at Virginia in a game I think they can win.

Good game at the Rocket Morrgage Tipoff in RSW. Physical yet entertaining game, Pitt leads Kansas State 42-41 at the 12 minute 2nd half tv timeout. Both of these teams are better than BC and northeastern.

Georgetown just lost two of their better players as James Akinjo(reigning Big East Freshman of the Year) and Josh LeBlanc have entered the transfer portal. Akinjo is averaging 13 and 6 assists and LeBlanc off the bench is averaging 7 pts.

This is a huge blow to Ewing's attempt to revitalize Georgetown basketball. Akinjo in particular is a very talented player, a point guard who can score. LeBlanc apparently stole something from a girl on campus and then threatened her. She took out a restraining order against him. Two other players (not suspended so far) are also mentioned in press reports about this. No word yet on what Akinjo did.

Bravo to Georgetown for having some standards though.

I haven't followed this story, but if the players are facing disciplinary issues they shouldn't be allowed to enter the transfer portal immediately. I have serious issues with the portal but this isn't even factoring in anything else except discipline.

Ewing is going to have to explain how these guys were served restraining orders on campus (by the campus police) and he still let them suit up and play multiple games.

It’s frustrating to see Georgetown dip back into mediocrity after some decent years at the start of the JTIII era, especially with all the success that Villanova’s had.

They will fall further down in the BE with UConn coming in next year and seemingly on the upswing with Dan Hurley.

UVA getting it handed to them.
I guess we'll see but I think there's a decent chance UVA takes a step back this year. They lost the top three guys from last year's team and Braxton Key is hurt. Vermont (at JPJ) and Arizona State had already given them scares before tonight's loss.

I posted yesterday in a long ramble over in the Port Cellar about Virginia about how they will finally be exposed vs Purdue today. To say I feel they take will take a step back is an understatement. I feel they will finish in the lower half of the ACC and I promised that this was not a hot take but an honest evaluation of this years team.

damnit, just updated iPhone and copy/paste won’t work. Anyway, it’s in the betting thread if anyone is interested.

First NET ratings released. NCAA tourney committee fond of this tool, which goes beyond win-loss records into offensive and defensive efficiency. Dan Gavitt says it can be a predictive tool.

The NET last year took the place of the Rating Percentage Index (RPI) as the primary starting-point ranking for the NCAA tournament selection committee in March when it begins deliberations on who makes the field of 68 and where they are seeded.

Requisite UVA obsession/fascination post.

NET has Virginia down to 69 (from 31) following yesterday’s loss to South Carolina. This metric is worlds ahead of most (KenPom has them at lol 22 this morning). NET is still too high imho but well ahead of any rankings I’ve seen. I want to see these numbers after a 7-point Navy win next week or yikes......after they lose.

Of course they won’t lose again till March
Aside from the annual St Mary’s threat the team to look out for in the WCC is BYU now that Child’s is back in the lineup. I have the Cougars as a legit Sweet-16 threat come March.

UNC Greensboro is 64

UNC is 89
They both might be too high. I could hot take this by saying UNC is more overvalued here than UNCG and I'd sleep fine. My two binkies I mentioned several weeks ago in one of these threads are sitting unbeaten at #1 (SD State) and #17 (Liberty). You're going to hear more about these teams before the season is finished.
