I'm just guessing they want to avoid

This is a couple days old. They pulled it from the SI article.
Additionally apparently AB has copies of texts messages with the doctor and the doc is laughing about this.

Apparently a two year statute of limitations for rape? Seems awfully short. Even more so if they are unwilling to investigate the last allegation which took place in May 2018.

Doesn't sound right, but maybe I'm missing something.
The rape (as opposed to the 2 sexual assaults) allegedly happened in Florida, in 2018. The county in FL said they have no record of any report or contact with law enforcement regarding that incident and have not, as of now, indicated one way or another if they intend to open an investigation.

I'm at a trade show in Chicago, been following along from here; so no news yet? My assumption is he's good to go for Sunday?

Any ideas as to where this goes from here?

AB posted this on instagram and then took it down. I wonder if someone from the front office at the Patriots didn't like the Patriot brand with those headlines.

Not action by the NFL is expected this week based on various reports.

Thus, he should play unless he otherwise blows himself up in the interim.

Which...is possible.

Good question how BB is dealing with AB Instaface. Charlie Weiss said this morning BB would handle
Jamal Adams by playing a clip in a team meeting, looking at him, and saying, "Why don't you shut the fuck up? Nobody wants to hear from you." Said that was remarkably effective reducing noise. I'm not sure that's the way to handle AB, but I'm sure he's getting feedback from somebody.

It’s in the hands of league officials who have been dragged into court multiple times for being inconsistent and not even following their own rules. As such, I don’t think it’s something we can really predict.

Yeah, without knowing what happened in the meeting with Taylor especially. There seem like there are many many possibilities.

She may have given them other avenues to follow up. AB may have given them information that they need to follow up.

And as others have mentioned, they likely want to wait through a few news cycles to see where public opinion is. Eventually, they are going to start getting questions. If "you met with her for 10 hours and you're doing nothing" starts, they probably will eventually have to do something. Or say something. After floating a few options through their surrogates to tweet out.

Thanks for the feedback.

A lawyer I spoke with here said usually you start with criminal, the point being if you get a conviction, it then goes to civil as a verdict is in place, ie, yes, in the eyes of the law he did commit these acts, therefore civil is the next step, you usually don't start with civil.

Not sure if that is true as I am not a lawyer, but that's what he said, I'll defer to the opinion of any lawyers here.

It appears there will be no criminal prosecution with respect to the Taylor allegations. The statute of limitations bars them and the relevant DA in PA has said they will not prosecute.

I was under the impression that that news concerned only the PA sexual assault allegations and did not pertain to the alleged rape, which Taylor says occurred in Florida in 2018.

Correct. The DA in Allegheny County is not going to pursue charges for the alleged sexual assault incidents that took place in PA due to statute of limitations having run out. The DA's office in Florida has only said they did not receive any police reports. But as there is still plenty of time before statute of limitations runs out when it comes to a possible rape charge, it's premature to say Brown is free and clear of any possible criminal prosecution.

I figure her story would have to have a lot of holes for AB to be free to play this weekend. You have to think that a passionate plea for justice from a credible rape victim, would result in an immediate suspension.

I don't think the NFL will do anything until they talk to AB, and I'm not sure that has happened yet. It would not surprise me if they took a little bit of time to sort through the details of what the accuser said and maybe follow up on a few things before they talk to him.

The sooner they cut Brown, the better. He's clearly unstable, and while he's a great player, they don't need him.

Signing him in the first place was somewhat defendable, but giving him a large signing bonus was beyond dumb.

Even without a direct threat, I think this is intimidating:

Brown reportedly has sent a group text message to the woman, accusing her of fabricating a “bull sh-t” story in an effort to “make up some stuff for money.” He also called her a “super broke girl with a lot of kids,” and he encouraged someone to whom Brown refers as “Eric B” to investigate her in order to “see how broke this girl is.”

Brown also sent a screen shot of an Instagram photo of the woman’s children, adding that the woman is “awfully broke clearly.”
Telling someone on the group message to investigate her and then including a screen shot of her kids? That's fucked up.

I hate to knee-jerk but I'm out on AB. He got a clean slate when he arrived in NE and it's no longer clean. Get whatever ducks in a row are needed to void his contract.

This dude includes his lawyer on his shady group texts?
What do you think it’s like to be his lawyer?

Brady’s gonna be so mad when he wakes up in like an hour.

Lucrative but fleeting.

I repped this drug dealer once. Friend of a friend. Got stopped with like 600 pills and a ton of coke because he fell asleep in his car with everything in plain sight.

Anyways, I told him to keep clean, go to rehab, apply to some jobs, keep a low profile. Dude liked to pay me in cash. So one night, he owes me like a grand for some work, screams around the corner in his convertible BMW, top down, two strippers in sequined dresses hanging out the back, blasting edm.

He parks in front of my apartment, grabs a backpack, takes out a scale, bags of pills and blow and then a wad of cash. Drunk and high, he counts me off my fees, asks if I want any blow or molly or x or k or Xanax, invites me to the stripclub then peels out again, almost losing a stripper off the back.

AB seems confused over who is scamming and who has a legitimate claim for payment--it seems like in his mind everyone is trying to rip him off, hence the outrage and what appears to be paranoia. At any rate, at this point it might be useful for Rosenhaus to plead mental illness with the league and promise treatment as an
alternative to discipline (not that this is treatable, but to buy time to figure out a way to shut him up).

Every time I start to get hopeful that he may survive this, we have a new incident. I think the hammer is coming down real soon.

It is still entirely possible that he’s innocent of any crime, and in the most generous possible reading of these texts he is a cornered and wounded animal defending himself from every attack with the same degree of intensity no matter what, but, yeah, can’t have shit like this every single week. What message does it send to the guys in the room who are 100% committed to playing football, and to the young guys like Meyers and Harry.

Time to end the experiment Bill. This guy clearly has such a profound personality disorder that he simply cannot be reasoned with or restrained by anyone, lawyers, agents, etc. That list will soon , if it doesn’t already with these latest actions, include any football coaches. I hope they’re spending this morning making their case for full cap relief upon his release, and not just falling back on “it’s a league matter”.

I don’t read it as a threat to the kids at all, but him using pics of the kids to show she’s broke and needs money to take care of them.

Agreed. These are threatening at all. If he threatened to harm them then yes but this isn't the case.

Why is Heitner talking to Klemko at all? Putting aside AB for a minute, I would be PISSED if my lawyer jumped at the first opportunity to disavow a text message.

There are no defensible reasons to send someone pictures of their children in that manner.
