I'm also a grumpy old fart and yes, reactions to success on the field have changed forever. My generation was told never to show someone up,

Here's a quote from Dusty Baker that illustrates how things used to be and especially with Bob Gibson:

"Hank Aaron told me: 'Don’t dig in against Bob Gibson, he’ll knock you down. He’d knock down his own grandmother if she dared to challenge him. Don’t stare at him, don’t smile at him, don’t talk to him. He doesn’t like it. If you happen to hit a home run, don’t run too slow, don’t run too fast. If you happen to want to celebrate, get in the tunnel first. And if he hits you, don’t charge the mound, because he’s a Gold Glove boxer.’ I’m like, ‘Damn, what about my 17-game hitting streak?' That was the night it ended.”

Here is a link to some more quotes about Gibson. I like the "It's nice to meet you, Mrs. Baker":

I am old too and was taught the same thing.

However, after having a kid play rec, club, travel and high school sports, my eyes have been opened. Just as Dusty explained the culture back when Gibson was playing, these young people have taken control of it for their generation. They celebrate things we would consider routine and that is fine. Its their sports now and they, not us old heads, shape how the game is played and how participants act. In the end, if it makes playing a sport more fun, I am all for it.

One interesting thing to note - and I could be off on this - is that the crap talking that goes on appears to peak in HS. It starts in middle school and then gets more pronounced early in the HS sports experience (those handshake likes may feature more "eff-yous" than "good games"). As kids realize how hard it is to actually play at the varsity level and beyond, it seems like they have a newfound respect for their competitors.

So while the guys at that level, college and the professional level still celebrate, they typically seem to do so in what is, for their cohort, a respectful manner. They know how hard it is to get there, whether its winning a spot on your school's varsity roster, getting to play in college or even breathing the extremely rarified air of being a professional.

Wednesday night in NY looks like a complete washout so that could really benefit Houston. Given their options at starters for Game 4, Grienke would be available on regular rest for Game 4 if it's on Thursday and Verlander regular rest for Game 5.

Also, if there is a Friday game it would be in the afternoon if there is an NLCS Game 6.
Boone said Game 4 would be a bullpen game from the start(weather permitting).
I watched the weather forecast and it looks like the weather will be a factor on Wednesday night. What would be the better scenario for the Astors and us non-yankee fans? Having Grienke and Verlander on regular rest in Gams 4 & 5 sounds good to me, but the prospect of Boone blowing through his bullpen in Game 4 with Game 5 the very next day also sounds enticing.

The best case scenario for non-Yankee fans is for Severino to spit the bit and the pen has to go 6 plus innings again in Game 3. Rainout or not, the innings would start to catch up to them especially if it's still a bullpen game even with the rainout.

Holy crap, you ain't kiddin. Over two inches of precipitation, all concentrated around game time. They're more likely to see an Ark float by than they are to play baseball wednesday night.

I feel like i have seen tons of stuff with Correa being active in the community? he donated 10k after that sikh trooper in TX was killed as well. after this story, it seems like Correa is a stand up guy in his local community and is the exact kind of player MLB should be celebrating.

Celebrations don't bother me in big moments. They do bother me when nothing important has happened and you're celebrating like a buffoon. Sometimes Severino overreacts on strikeouts and I'm thankful I like the guy because I'd otherwise be very annoyed.
MLB is running “We Play Loud” commercials celebrating celebrations. It seems like the league is pro this stuff and I am too. I don’t think any of us know what it’s like to do anything on a stage like this or in front of 50,000 people, so the criticisms seem weird. It’s like saying have quieter orgasms.

Going back to the HR celebration, that didn't really bother me. I did find it way overboard the postgame reaction - the team was reacting as if they won the series. Players ripping off jerseys, mini pile-ons, etc. It doesn't bother me just seemed too much of a reaction for a single game to even the series.

They do that for regular season walkoff HRs too.

Had Houston lost that game, it becomes extremely difficult (though not, obviously, impossible) to come back to win the series. So while it wasn't a series-winning HR, it may very well have been a season-saving one.
