Agreed. If there is one receiver on the team who we know is on the same page as Brady, it's Edelman. Hopefully, this helps him reduce some camp wear and tear while allowing other receivers to get more reps in camp and early preseason games.

that was an unfortunate bump. Good video...but worrying bump.

The video misses a bit though, as it tries to provide analysis but just enough to where it's punching above its weight class. Edelman is the guy who has the highest win% on the Pats, which in itself isn't saying much, but considering the company he's compared against is pretty incredible. I'd be pretty surprised if he's not #1 all time among NFLers with more than a small sample of games but would have no idea how to verify it.

The Pats have also averaged more points with him than any other offensive player -- including Welker Moss and Gronk. I think I read this on 538 but can't find it atm.

This can't be right except on a technicality. Welker was on all four teams in franchise history that topped 500 points. Edelman was technically on the 10-12 squads, but he barely played. The offense has not scored as many points 13-18 as it did 07-12.

What’s the difference procedurally between PUP and NFI, when the season starts?

And does anyone know the details on Edelman’s prognosis?
Procedurally, no difference. Edelman would be out for the first 6 weeks if he starts the season on NFI. One key difference financially, however, is that the Pats are not obligated to pay a player their base salary if they are on NFI. The NFI designation is most commonly utilized for draft picks and undrafted free agents who got hurt prior to the draft.

As to your second question, the initial rumors had him out a couple of weeks, which then turned into the entire preseason. As to the details, you do know whom your dealing with..... We can all hear Bill saying "Once he's cleared by the medical staff, we'll make whatever decision is in the best interest of the club."

Too many words: "Check the injury report on Wednesday."

We;re sure he's talking about the actual NFL and not, say, his fantasy keeper league?

I have no idea who that guy is, but in all the time I've read about football, here and all over the internet, I've never seen anyone reference the site he is a writer for.
They just hired Tony Pauline who has been around the league for a while and has a lot of connections. They said that Laremy Tunsil and other Dolphins players were on the trade block yesterday. Today, Tunsil's people confirmed that this is true. Certainly not saying the Edelman bit is true because of this, but Tony Pauline brings a bit of credibility to that site.

around the way
It's a pleasant break from the "obviously TB12's last year in NE since he listed one of his houses" conversation.

JE is likely the least replaceable player on the 53 after TB. Why the fuck would he be "available"?

Okay, maybe site is somewhat legit. But I still doubt the dude tweeting has the goods here.

On Lombardi’s podcast last week, he said he was working to verify a WR on the trade block that would “shock people”. I think JE would qualify.

Still seems unlikely......

Edelman post game hugging it out Steve Smith:

View: https://youtu.be/DLaG2PsFys4

Love the guy. MVP of the season so far.

Edelman also hilariously drills the guy asking the question around 4:40 mark saying "is this your first time interviewing a Patriot?"

Steve Smith then goes "he played in Cleveland. He's learning how to be a victim real quick." Savage!

P. S. Who is that anyway?

One of the consequences of the fact that Brady makes receivers look so good is that (other than Moss obviously) the receivers on the team tend not to get very much credit. When Aaron Dobson, Reche Caldwell, and Kembrell Tompkins are making game winning catches, it's easy to forget that this team has also had a pretty much unbroken string of relatively unheralded, undersized glue guys who have been much much better than they will ever get credit for. It's a pretty much unbroken line from Troy Brown, to Deion Branch, to Wes Welker, to Julian Edelman.

Not one of them coming close to sniffing 6 feet tall and zero expectations for any of them except Branch coming out of college. I think, as a result, the tendency is to view them as guys who, without Brady or Belichick, would just be Taylor Gabriel. When you look at their stats, it's kind of hard to see their impact -- though Edelman is now getting recognized. It is outsized impact. If someone ever compiled how many first downs these guys have between them, it would be easier to see, I think, how good they really have been.
