A Scud Away from Hell
The first half had me dejected but Gilmore comes through with an MVP type effort.

These aren't as frequent now a days but hey, we'll take a beatdown against the worst football team in the league.

It's GAME BALL TIME (again)!

Beyond the obvious Gilmore, offensive line, Sony and Rex. Yeah it was one of the worst run ds in football, but so were the Chiefs and they couldn't run the ball at all last week.

Here
Gilmore
Jackson
Folk (I like a solid kicker who can make stuff inside 45 in normal conditions and then just go for it on fourth otherwise)
Harry

The Granite State
Up:
  1. Gilmore - elite CB play
  2. JC Jackson - competes like hell
  3. Gunnerz (Slater/Bethel) - difference-makers

Down:
  1. Brady - inaccurate... can't all be on the receivers since Brady just plain missed or handcuffed several open WRs and RBs (Sanu, Edelman, Michel, White...)
  2. Sanu - not reliable
  3. Cannon - turnstile today

Jamie Collins was more disruptive that he's been lately with a few important pass deflections (but also a horrid missed tackle on Mixon on Cincy's first drive).

Defense seemed to sort some things out at halftime, for the most part. Run D shaky, but stabilized later.

Jules gets a pass because he's playing hurt, but he and Brady were not on the same page several times.

around the way
Gilmore & Jackson against the pass. Shelton & Bentley against the run.

HM: Michel for doing his job and some tougher yards after contact, Harry for being involved. McD for liberal sprinkling of misdirection.

deep inside Guido territory
Gilmore
Jackson
Harry
Slater
Adam Butler--thought he stemmed the tide on the run game early. Cincy was running all over them early, but Butler stepped up and made plays when they desperately needed them
Sony looked like he wasn't guessing. Just ran hard to the hole.

Pats leaders in AV since the first SB year:

2001-2005: Brown, Brady, Law, Brady, Brady
2006-2010: Seymour, Brady, Cassel, Brady, Brady
2011-2015: Brady, Brady, Mankins, Brady, Brady
2016-2019: Hightower, Brady, Brady, ?

? = Gilmore, presumably? It's pretty clearly a "non-Brady" season (to be followed inevitably by 3-4 Brady seasons.):)

Danny Shelton and Ja'Whaun Bentley.
After the NE offense soiled themselves with a turnover on downs on their first possession in the 2nd (down 10-7), Shelton and Bentley shut down the Bengal 4th down attempt. Had Cinci scored there, the entire game may have played out much differently. Fortunately, the Pats immediately marched down, tied the game, and pretty much didn't look back.

4th & 1 at NE 30
(7:14 - 2nd) J.Mixon up the middle to NE 30 for no gain (D.Shelton; J.Bentley).

It's pretty historically rare for a CB to. I guess he could, it wouldn't be shocked.

Could actually see it being Thuney though.

Tyler Boyd, via postgame transcript, on his matchup with Stephon Gilmore: “It was just 1-on-1. I won the majority of the matchups.”
Funny that he thinks that. I saw something from Zac Taylor that laid a fair amount of blame for Daltons INTs on the receivers. Said they were bullied.
If Taylor is a "humble pie" type of coach, Boyd won't have a fun film session today
