This defense continues to bail the offense out until TB & McD figure it out. Love that Jakob Johnson allowed Michel to finally get some open runs in. Bailey continues to be a weapon.

It's Game Ball Time!

Hightower - 5 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and 1 pass defended. It was great to have him back. If this Patriots defensive squad can stay healthy they can carry the team.

Honorable mention to Edelman and Sony.

Michel with the best receiving game of his career
Ended up with 16 carries for 91 yards.

That’s 4.4 yards per carry even pulling out the 25 yarder.

Every other team in football has given up at least twice as many points as the Pats, aside from the Cowboys , who are playing right now, and the 9ers, who have 2 less games.

Tommy Boy. He has an off week and instead of spiraling down the next week, he returns to throwing some great spirals. Not his greatest game, but you know the team is going nowhere unless he plays at a high level.

Josh McDaniels for finally throwing the ball to Sony. If they can just make him a little bit of a threat to catch the ball it’ll open up the run D big time.

I wasn't following the game thread, but it seemed that there was a focus on throwing the ball to Sony today. Much like was requested in the pre-game thread.

Defense for not missing a beat without Chung. Basically one bad play for the whole game, but other than that one Hightower really stood out to me.

I was unable to watch the game today, what happened on that Redskins TD?
We got picked (legally) to give up a first, then as 4 DBs coverged on the runner, Devin McCourty of all people flubbed an easy tackle, as did someone else back there, and meanwhile the two others slowed down and took themselves out of the play, assuming it would be made. Runner got free and went down the sideline for 65.

It was a great play by him, but a total freak aberration from our rock of reliability in the secondary.

They missed several tackles on a reverse. Aberration.
Mentioned this in the game thread, but I'd pay to hear BB's unvarnished film breakdown of that play in the defensive meeting

Bailey
Hightower
Michel

Hightower, Collins, Van Noy, Bentley all get mentions for the D.

It was great to see Edelman back to being #11.

McDaniels for the halftime adjustment. And an honorable mention to Michel, Johnson and the OL's run blocking for responding to the adjustments.

Against a good team that could execute on offense, the first half mistakes could have been deadly.

He doesn't deserve a game ball for his overall performance but Gordon should get one for that stiff-arm alone. He is a beast.

KVN was also obviously held at the point of attack as well, but no call.

Whoever schemed up adding Johnson and Izzo to the run blocking out of putative passing formations to start the second half. Probably it was McDaniels.

Edit: whoops wrong thread - uh...
Michel - rushing yards and catching
Edelman - clearly hurt and roughing it out
Entire Defense

The D as everyone has noted, but with this defense having a punter like Bailey is a crazy weapon. And I think every kickoff was a touchback. Not giving the other team an opportunity for field position on special teams will be huge if the defense keeps playing the way we’ve seen.

Hightower for the defense as he was a wrecking force all day.
Sony for the offense. He looked good in space as a receiver.

Honorable mentions to Shelton, Collins, Wino, the front 7 had a good day.

Bentley’s crushing hit was great too on that screen.

Given that it is day 2 of the thread,
High, Edelman, the no name DL.

DL was obscene.
Day two of the thread seems like the time to talk just a little more about Edelman. Eight catches for 110 yards. Four first downs and a TD plus one almost spectacular first down on 3d and 17 and one very savvy first down drawn on the Patriot’s longest play of the day. Wearing a protective jacket. With the secondary only having to key on two WRs. This fucking guy.
