I hate how this ceremony feels like a fucking funeral every year.

They need to do it outside like they used to and get the crowd involved.
Yea that was brutal. Nantz using his indoor golf voice still ugh.

Hey so I can't remember...what happens when someone repeats (as rare as it is)...do they put the jacket on themselves?

I am assuming there are a lot of folks in this thread too young to see tiger come of age because I am mind boggled at the lack of appreciation for his place in making the game what it is today.

I guarantee you every player in the field today just realized how much more money they have made and that they will make going forward because of this guy.

How many sports have a favorite that fans root for. And one that fd up bad in his personal life.
The one other player who did what Tiger did for golf (expanded the purses and interest in the game) was Arnold Palmer. Nicklaus was better but Arnie was much more loved, had his army and really turned golf into a major sport. Probably take a zero or more off the purses back then compared with today, but Arnie improved them a lot and he and Tiger are the two top ambassadors for golf, IMO.

Tiger is sort of like Jack and Arnie rolled into one. The greatest golfer of his day and charismatic.

Jack: "In 86, I didn't really expect to see myself in position to win. But I did find myself in position, and I remembered how to play and how to win"

The jacket's the jewel but that clubhouse-shaped trophy is pretty sweet

Goes right up there with the Red Sox winning the WS in 04 and American Pharoah winning the Triple Crown as something I hoped would happen but not sure I would ever see. Just incredibly awesome.

What a glorious win. Got more than a little dusty at casa cornwalls. I always root hard for Tiger. He's 43, and a lot can happen at that age, but I really feel like the dam breaks now, and he gets at least a couple more majors. Also, go fuck yourself Hank Haney. Hope you're choking on this one.

If my math is correct, this win puts Tiger in a virtual tie as the 10th oldest person to win a major

Well, glad Tiger got that out of the way so I can now root against him again. Always good to root for the underdog (now that Tiger definitively is no longer among them).

Here’s the thing. Tiger has been playing very well but it was unclear if he would ever get over the hump and win another major. Now that he has done that, I can see him winning several more.

Fun exercise in perspective, look at the leaderboard of the 1997 Masters when he won his first. All pretty much long gone.

It’s funny, I was just thinking about how this victory is so much different than even his last. The field seems so much stronger an accomplished now.
I feel like this is one we’ll look back on in 15 years and marvel at the greats who, were in their primes ,that he beat today

The best part about this, for me, is the younger players (and Tiger's own children) being able to be a part and witness this "Tiger mania" that occurs when he is in the hunt. My own son, who is 13, hasn't been able to witness it. Tiger won his last major when he was 3. He's only heard stories about Tiger. I feel like today, he really got to take in the whole experience. He even said a couple times how the roars from the crowd were more intense for Tiger. The mania at the end as he was walking towards the scoring area and the "Tiger" chants was unlike anything I've seen.

Today was so much fun. I got more emotional than I thought I would. I'm all in for this summer, which others have said, lines up quite nicely for him (Bethpage and Pebble Beach),
