Making all-pro, even once, is an extraordinary accomplishment. Even all-time great players only make it a handful of times.

Also, I just realized that Pro Football Reference has the 2019 Adjusted Value calculations out. Lamar Jackson had an AV of 26 (!) this year, tied for the highest ever recorded, with LaDanian Tomlinson's 31 TD season in 2006.

Thuney makes second team all-pro, making him one of the top four guards in the NFL, but doesn't make the pro-bowl roster.

Am I wrong to feel like Hightower should have made first or second team All-Pro?

Not really that weird. There are four AFC guards on the first and second team All Pro and only three in the Pro Bowl, so one of them was bound not to make it (as it turns out, Bitonio and Thuney both didn't make the Pro Bowl and David DeCastro did). Nelson also got 44 / 50 votes for LG, so Thuney only needed 3 to make 2nd-team All-Pro (which is probably a more meaningless distinction than the Pro Bowl).

Corrdarelle Patterson made it to both first and second teams ... one as a returned and one as a tackler I assume?

Lamar Jackson not a unanimous All-Pro, only Gilmore and Thomas were.

I loved to know the rational for anyone not voting for Slater. Arguably more dominant at his position than any other player.
How many voters watch special teams for all teams in the NFL. For the record here's the votes:

Special Teamer

Matthew Slater, New England, 37; J.T. Gray, New Orleans, 3; Cordarrelle Patterson, Chicago, 3; Derek Watt, Los Angeles Chargers, 2; Raheem Mostert, San Francisco, 1; Nate Ebner, New England, 1; Deonte Harris, New Orleans, 1; Tyler Matakevich, Pittsburgh, 1; Cory Littleton, Los Angeles Rams, 1.

Interesting on Ebner - I know nothing about ST intricacies, but Bethel looked at least as good as Ebner to me

Also noteworthy: Brady is now 1st overall in career AV, passing Manning. If he retires before Brees it's possible Brees will finish 1st overall (currently 4 points behind Manning and 14 points behind Brady).

Kind of surprised he won after getting embarrassed in the last game of the season, but I guess I can't think of anyone else who deserved it more.

Yeah, voters often have severe recency bias. But once the All Pro vote totals were announced, it was pretty clear he was still the favorite. It helps that there were about 3 or 4 guys with legitimate arguments after Gilmore and not one standout.
