Luck has done this before: look great heading into the playoffs and game 1 of the post-season so that everyone declares He's Arrived and then he craps the bed, because he can't play outside in January.

In 2012 (really, 2013), he played his first playoff game at Baltimore, lost 23-9, because he can't play outside in January
In 2013 he had the comeback against KC followed by a 4 INT blowout loss to NE because he can't play outside in January.
In 2014 he had a great game against CIN, a decent game against DEN, then a 23 rating against NE because he can't play outside in January.
FTFY

I beat this drum year in year out, weather, weather, weather. Andrew Luck has never lost a playoff game (3-0) that was played indoors, including the Houston win last week. Unfortunately for him, every other year, they've had to go to Baltimore, New England (twice) and yesterday, Kansas City. He does have one win outdoors in the playoffs, so he's 1-4 when he plays outside, but that one win was played in 40 degree weather, and he threw 2 picks and had a 76.2 QB rating in a 24-13 win at Denver.

Someday, Vegas and NFL fans will see this trend before the games are played, but it's really, really rare for dome teams and dome quarterbacks to go outside in the elements in cold weather stadiums in January, and not only win, but play well. This is why Drew Brees is 6-0 in the playoffs at home, and 1-6 on the road. Drew Brees six playoff losses: At Chicago, at San Francisco, at Seattle (twice), against the Jets (at San Diego when he played for the Chargers), and last year's Miracle at Minnesota. So, he's 1-5 in the playoffs when he has to go outdoors. Like Andrew Luck, in his one win on the road outdoors in the playoffs, he didn't even play well. They won at Philly in 2014 and he threw 2 picks and had a 75.7 rating in a 26-24 victory in which Shane Graham made 4 field goals for the Saints.

I'll be shocked if the Saints don't roll today, and then make the Super Bowl with Home Field advantage, just like they did in 2009. And with the SB being played in a dome....

If they didn't fear him, shouldn't they have been closer?
Sure, but why put your corners in that position when you're stacking the box? Prescott can't make the throw anyway so just keep it in front of you and eliminate the big play potential (which frankly they didn't, but I digress).

This Eagles fan would root hard for Andy Reid if he makes it to the Super Bowl.

As an aside, can someone tell me what happened to Andrew Luck between the wildcard round and yesterday? He looked absolutely dreadful - and powerless - out there.
From the fans I've asked here it is about 60% against against the Chiefs, 30-35 % for and the other percent not sure. If the Eagles hadn't already won a Super Bowl????? Forget it. Overwhelmingly against. What gets me is that in 99 a huge majority cheered for Dick Vermeil and the Rams to win that Super Bowl. The Eagles were beaten badly in 3 quarters by the Raiders in the 80 season with Vermeil as coach and nobody ever blamed his responsibility for that loss. I'm not anti-Eagles or Philly. If you've seen my other posts I have said that the Eagles fan base is one of the most loyal in all of pro sports, whether they're good or bad. 13-3 or 3-13 they are always there.

0-3 to 4-3
Just as with any fan base there are some good and some bad. I would suggest that any Eagle fan that would root against Andy Reid in a non-Eagle Super Bowl falls in to the bad category. And keep in mind that if the Eagle fan base as a whole voted on best Eagle coach of all time I'm pretty sure that Buddy Ryan and his 0-3 playoff record would win in a landslide over Vermeil, Reid and Pederson. That says a lot about Eagle fans...

Ok my bad. I feel like I have a million flaws as a poster but that doesn’t happen to be one of them. As you were!
I always pull for Cal guys and mention it here: Jaylen Brown, Goff, Aaron Rodgers (or is he still saying Butte College) even though I didn’t go there. One of my kids did though. I like Stanford guys too which I probably wouldn’t if I did go to Cal.

Start the game!

Luck took a Colts team that was rebuilding to the divisional round. He's played in quite a number of playoff games and won a few of them. I don't understand why people are just so quick to besmirch other players for no reason, other than partisan hackery. So he's not a top 5 guy. Is he Top 7? Is that enough? Yes.

Luck could definitely win a super bowl. It's ridiculous to state otherwise. Nick Foles won the Super Bowl last year, in fact.
On my end my objection is to the media being so quick to anoint Luck as a Top 2-3 QB every time he has a good playoff game. Or why I heard him talked about as an MVP candidate this year even though he had a worse record and the same stats or worse than, say, Rivers and Brady. As for Nick Foles, he played great in the Super Bowl and everyone wanted to bench him.

Anyway, I don't think I reflexively try to diminish the success of every player on any other team who has success, But I've questioned the Luck as a Top 3 QB for years and I'm not changing my mind or shutting my mouth about it until he proves me wrong.

From my in stadium viewpoint at the Colliseum yesterday (which probably isn’t as valid as yours since a.) you see stuff better onTV and b.) you’re smarter than me...

1.). So they had a tremendous performance against what was thought to be a very strong defense, but I can’t put the Rams offense in the same category as the Saints or Chiefs yet. At least yesterday, Goff struck me as “fine” made the throws to open midrange receivers when he had the time, but not much down field and didn’t throw great when he had pressure.
2.). That run game though. Anderson showed great patience, decision making, and burst. And makes Gurley fresher. Impressive.
3.) Not sure if it was because of the effort put into take away Zeke (highly effective) or not, but the Rams pass D was ass. And I think Brees would feast on them. Cowboys had open men every play, and Dak found a lot of them.
4.) Why don’t the Cowboys ever throw to Elliot? As I recall he’s got totally decent hands.
5.) Colisseum was easily 1/3 Cowboy fans, maybe more. Not sure if back in the Rams last run in LA the building was more Rams-partisan but this wasn’t a great showing by Rams fans. Though in their defense, it was kind of cloudy.

My comment wasn’t about Colts hatred, it was about Luck short-arming pass after pass in a way that I have never seen before. (And was completely at odds with what I saw last week.)

I like Andrew Luck. But he looked awful yesterday.

Edit: maybe it’s the weather, but it’s still hard to square with what looked like a total lack of arm strength.

Well, I predicted both games would be blow outs so, so far so good.

I’m an Eagles fan so I’m not very optimistic about their chances this afternoon, but I’m psyched to have meaningful football in January after this pretty meh season.

Anyway, I’ve had a great 2018 as a sports fan. I split my 4 major sports fandom between Philly and Boston - Sox, Eagles, Bruins and Sixers. The past year I got a WS and a SB. There was a time before 2004 that I thought I may not get another big 4 championship ever again after the ‘83 Sixers, so I’m playing with house money for today’s game.

If they don’t get to the SB I’ll be pulling for the Pats, though. They’re my second favorite NFL team and I became a fan in the 80’s when I studied and worked in Boston. Tippett, Lippett, Marion, Hannah, Morgan etc. I also have a lot of friends/family that are Pats fans and the only time I don’t want them to win is when they play the Eagles.

I couldn’t care much one way or the other if KC wins it all if they beat the Pats. If KC gets to the SB I’ll be rooting for them, but it would be pretty uninspired.

If the Eagles somehow make the SB this year I’d love to see a rematch of last year.

If you're the Eagles, and Foles gets them to another SB, do you entertain trading Wentz away? I know Foles actually is not good, but ...

Wentz was likely to get the MVP before he was hurt last year. You should be able to get a decent return if you trade the guy assume he returns to full health.

Whatever it is, Foles and the Eagles are a good match.

I’ve come around to the view that if Foles keeps playing well, they’ll be able to trade him and get a king’s ransom. (Although they would need Foles’ cooperation to do this because of the nature of the option.)

I think this is true.

Foles stretches the Eagles a bit more. He’s a really good fit. They just seem deeper with him. Able to hit spots Wentz can’t. Plus, they finish better with him.

Penis.

Brees has been ass since late November. Two games under 200 yards, two others where he barely topped 200 yards, and one 300 yard game.
