ESPN would never cover a Brady record like this, with all the graphics and theatrics.

I remember when Brady set the record for wins against the Rams in 2016 FOX covered it with a quick graphic for 3 seconds during a kneeldown.

Part of it is that the Patriots are so far ahead in the stats that matter that the other teams are fighting for scraps and the media really have no choice but to pump them up.

When Nantz and Romo talk about Brady playing in the AFCCG it is with great reverence and appropriate acknowledgement about the achievement.

The Patriots and Brady get a lot of accolades. Once Brees gets this record there is a decent chance barring injury that it will stand for a very long time. Given the dome effect and the age difference Brady may temporarily catch him but this actually is a big deal.

Chronicling Brees’ pursuit of the Manning TD record is a bit overhyped at this stage given how close he and Brady are and will likely continue to be.

Almost certainly will see a mid game ceremony if he passes Manning, of course.

And how could I forget to note that Brady has 611 career TD passes to Manning’s 579 and Brees’ 570, if you include playoff games. Regular season only stats are stupid.

At this rate, Brees is going to blow Brady away and never look back.
