“The manager is a dolt, the bullpen is a dumpster fire” and the Nats are going home two wins away from the World Series. So much for the conventional wisdom.
Dave Martinez is having himself a good postseason so far. Nobody knew. Think of how you felt about Tito before the 2004 playoffs.

STL is 6 for 76 since taking a 13-0 lead early in game 5 of the NLDS, baseball is crazy.

He is really bad defensively so you may get your answer mid-game, but STL has been so ice-cold collectively that they need to try something.

Always enjoy postseason baseball--makes me a little wistful that tomorrow could be the last day with two baseball games on. But go Nats anyway.

I've watched more postseason games than I've watched Red Sox games this season. Watching the Sox didn't strike me as a particularly pleasant viewing experience.

That could not be a passed call because I have it on good authority that Yadier Molina is the greatest catcher in the history of ever.

And Kendrick with the shot to right ...

Darling went to the line of criticizing Molina there but didn't go completely over it. I actually like Yadi and his career has been amazing but his lazy backhand there as well as his failure to slide/block was pretty much the equivalent of not fielding a routine ground ball because you don't get your glove down. We teach blocking a pitch like that at Little League and most proficient catchers (i.e. kids who can receive the ball without turning their heads and can catch the ball regularly) make that play.

In the end, I think Kendrick's hit scores both runners regardless but it was still pretty awful for someone considered the gold standard for their position.
