Chris Martin probably out for the postseason, no surprise. Big blow to ATL.

Yeah, I hate that shit too. I think your meteor might be the Dodgers next round.

Is Melancon their real closer or is he filling in for the real one who's injured?
Answering my own question, Google tells us that the ninth has been a real problem for the Braves since June, and the acquisitions of Greene, Melancon and Martin were made to attempt to address that. On occasion, Jackson has closed. So this problem was lurking all along, and will probably cost them against St. Louis, who, like or dislike them, plays cleverly against flaws.

It's pretty impressive when you can get both the opposition as well as your own team to be pissed at your baserunning on two different at bats.

"Yeah, it's frustrating," Braves star first baseman Freddie Freeman said. "But I think you have that conversation once. It's kind of beating a dead horse after that if you keep having the same conversation over and over again. You have to know that was a mistake."

The Braves players have a point - Acuña himself basically admitted he fucked up - but it’d be a little disconcerting to me if I were a Braves fan to see this level of public criticism of their own teammate.

Maybe Mookie will eschew going there. Hey, stranger things...

To your point about teammates criticizing Acuna, I was pleased to hear them be honest about it instead of going with a “he’s my teammate and I have his back” type thing. Probably do him more good. Freeman sounds like a good leader. Interesting Snitker said they were short handed so he couldn’t do anything, implying Acuna would be benched if they had another outfielder?

Didn't Snitker bench him mid-game just a little while ago or was that some one else?
