I wish I could wager some money against the chicken littles here on the assertion that Ghost will finish the season with the team.

At what point would we become worried for the game Sunday?
Started listing players then realized I'd have to list 1/2 the team including Brady before I got worried about WAS.
Nice having all these extra bye weeks this year.
Not worried, might be smart to let one of these guys be inactive and mend a bit, or just a PS move as noted above.

Carli Lloyd, come on down!
Let her kick FG's and PAT's and let Bailey kick off (where he might have to make a tackle).
I really wish people would stop saying this. No NFL team is going to give her a shot during the regular season without having her battle tested, in uniform and against a rush, in preseason.

They'll just blame him for not telling the trainers sooner
well, at least now you get to laugh about all those gamethreads where people talked shit about Gostkowski and you replied "tell me what street FA you'd sign to replace him", and got no takers.

Guess we get to find out now! Maybe we should start a pool.

BB had to block Flutie's calls on his cell.

Given the FA options, BB may be tempted to go without any kicker vs. Washington.

Koo is still available!

https://www.12up.com/posts/6316483-ex-chargers-kicker-younghoe-koo-is-absolutely-killing-it-in-the-aaf
He was cut after a terrible start with the Chargers but had a great training camp in making the team in the first place. He did well with the Legends in the AAF, including this game-winner:

Apparently, "Koo was one of three kickers in the AAF to maintain a perfect kicking record throughout the entire lifetime of the league" per Wiki.

Not that I'm biased or nothin'.

Yes, the grass always looks greener. Until it's time to replace your own lawn.

I'm trying to figure out what could have happened. Ghost made a tackle on the Bills first kickoff return, which happened right after his missed extra point. After that, however, he kicked an extra point on the punt block TD, kicked off two more times for touchbacks, kicked a short FG, and kicked off one more that was returned. Hard to believe he incurred an injury that would sideline him for the rest of the year.

Have you looked at the next four games?
(I'm not really serious, but I can't really imagine a better setup for her: very low pressure kicks 90% of the time for the next few weeks; a punter who can handle all the kickoff chores; and a team/coach who can keep the media circus at bay.)

I thought that one of the benefits of Jake Bailey was that he could do kickoffs, thereby relieving Ghost of some leg stress. Maybe that should have happened. He did kickoffs at Stanford but not field goals or extra points, apparently.

The other unknown implication here is whether this is season ending or if he could come back. Adds another whole layer to the 'who to bring back from IR' discussions.
No evidence to back this up but sometimes it just feels like they are too focused on making sure that they always have 53 players that are ready to play (maybe allowing for the 1-2 week injury). Just feels like they refuse to consider carrying a guy that can't play on the active roster for longer than a 1-2 week period. I'd really question the value of the next guy added to the 53 man roster for a period of time vs. allowing more than two of Ghost, Wynn, Harry and Develin to return this year.

around the way
BFB at the forefront of the No Placekicker movement.

Bailey can do the kickoffs (overglorified punts), and Bill can go for it all of the rest of the time.

I welcome the New Age.

Kai Forbath had a terrible 2015 but really has been an average to above average kicker over the rest of his career. I'd go with him over Walsh or Parkey personally.

EDIT- Just saw the above post...apparently he was one of those in today

Forbath was the highest-ranked & available kicker from the list I posted above:

"Kai Forbath hit four out of his five field goals this year with Jacksonville. He was 32-of-38 in 2017, including 6-of-9 from 50-plus."

I've always been a Ross Martin fan. Still think he's young enough to get a look, just not sure the Pats would go with someone with that level of inexperience.

I think realistically, it's Kai Forbath or Nick Novak, but I'd give the Falcons a call and see if they'd move Matt Bryant since their season is imploding as well. Was 13-14 outdoors last year, so might not be a bad bet for a 7th-round pick.

I thought he was injured making a tackle. If so, leg stress had little to do with it. And I'm not sure I'd want Bailey injured either.

I'm not sure there is evidence that this is correct. At the very least, this post is making assumptions about the severity of the injuries that may not be accurate.

Harry was put on IR for roster management reasons, but if he was going to miss a couple of weeks anyway, it may not have been the worst idea. Wynn got put on after the team got the MRI results, so I'm guessing there was some ligament damage that was going to put him on the shelf for a few weeks anyway. Develin's injury does not sound like the type he would come back from. I'm guessing the same is true of Ghost's.

One thing about IR is that while a player on IR will miss 8 weeks, he can return to practice after 6. Players that are hurt enough to be listed as "DNP/out" on the injury report for 2 or more weeks typically have a couple of weeks where the are "limited/doubtful" or "limited/questionable" anyway.

I'd say go without a kicker and just go for 2. But there is no way Belichick is going to let the entire NFL see every 2 point play they have designed in the playbook before the playoffs. We have a better chance of seeing drop kicks.

But what would you do if you needed a FG to win a game? Like the KC game in a Foxboro last year.

People advocating abandoning the one and three point plays are ignoring a degraded offensive ine and weakened receiving corps.

We’re not the 2000 Ravens on defense. But if we were, they had a kicking game.
