Maybe he's been fucking off so much that he just doesn't want to cut the extra weight by January.

Edit: I don't think the cut for lightweight was easy for him before, and that was when he was fighting more regularly.

Just the second twister submission in UFC history a moment ago (clip below)

I know I've said it before, but Bryce Mitchell is a fun fighter to watch. Great on the mic too. His interview later in the broadcast was really good. He talked through the grappling exchanges really well, what he was seeing and what he was thinking. The kid is sharp. I don't know what his ceiling is, but he's entertaining as hell.

LOL. Dude gets pummeled in the nuts twice. Ref talks him into trying to finish the round rather than going to NC. Then he gets knocked out.

Does the ref not have the ability to declare a DQ in that situation?

Edit: Respect to Rothwell. He spent the majority of his victory speech acknowledging it was a rather cheap win and giving credit to his competitor for continuing the fight.

Does Mirgliotta get suspended or something for that? Can't remember the details, but he did something weird in a Bellator fight with Michael Page not too long ago as well.

Oh, but he needs to keep his chin tucked and not back straight up like last time or Alistair can catch him.

I just watched this fight. I can’t say too much about Mitchell because Sayles was so bad on the ground that you can’t tell how good the guy beating him is.

Check out the interview a little later. Mitchell talks about some of the different subs he could have gone for but how it wasn't the right time. I think he would agree with you about Sayles' skill on the ground.

I saw that twister stat. I thought it was wrong because Belcher put Palhares in a twister. Palhares got out though. Belcher ko’d him later. Watch how Palhares moves and compare to Sayles in a similar position. I hope Mitchell is good. I like good grapplers.

Reem with vet tricks - rubs the top of his head into the left side of R’s face, then knees him to the right side of his body.

Reem should not shoot. Just lateral drops. His shot is in slo mo and it sucks and he could get himself knocked out

I mean, I guess my prediction was right, but how you gonna stop that with 4 seconds left? Shades of Meldrick Taylor.

Not a good night for Mirgliotta, I think. That said, I did think Reem was unconscious on his way to the floor. But he wasn't.

I don’t know if I wanna see Reem’s mouth or not. How does that even happen with a mouthguard in?

You gotta know the time and who’s winning the fight. That’s a bad stoppage.

And damn, that dude’s father is bigger than him.

That was brutal, for a number of reasons. I think I’m fine with the stoppage. I guess? Overeem was out on his feet with his lip hanging off.

His mouth hanging off is irrelevant. It’s like a broken nose or cut cheek. Who cares?

This is sort of a boxing mentality and valid. UFC has adopted boxing type scoring so maybe correct. MMA has had various types of scoring over the years. My favorite was “watch the totality of the fight, decide who won” I’m fine with the guy that knocked the other guys lip off winning.

I feel bad for Reem because his coach was giving him bad advice.

Yeah, I don't know. Reem isn't just some guy. He's been around at the highest level for a long time. I think a guy with his experience deserves an extra second or two.

That said, I know the consequences of giants throwing down is different than what the little guys can do to each other.

It was 4-0 on all 3 scorecards. I’m not too broken up about it because you’re right - he got clocked. But you shouldn’t wave off a fight under ten seconds left when the dude is on his feet and his opponent is out of pocket.

I guess I'm biased. When you turn your back on what you think is a walk-off KO, you gotta be damn sure what you have is a walk-off KO.

But it really was a hell of a shot. I'm surprised Reem wasn't out for a while.

The thing is, I thought the bell rang. There was at least 4 seconds of space between Reem and JR, and Reem popped back to his feet right away. It’s probably best for him longterm he doesn’t have another Top 5 fight coming up, but I’d be super pissed if I was him.
