People cheered for the answer they thought correct.

The prize for winners was breakfast at Bickfords. Second place got two breakfasts. Or so I was told. I have never been inside a Bickfords.
So, I don't see how you could "win." If people were cheering, then they would have to film them and do a study of the film to determine who cheered right. Unless it was on the honor system? (I don't think I understand this, at all, by the way. A person was paired with each number? And the crowd is not cheering to be winners but to pick winners?) Okay, now I'll drop it.

That was absolutely horrible by Barksdale and is unacceptable in a World Series game - especially in that spot. Not only was the pitch out of the zone but it was high as well. Nobody above the age of 12 swings at that on a full count. Just horrific.

Umpiring is unfair. The team I want to win is on the ropes. Two innings away and Houston will be heading home for a coronation.

But, I’ve learned a ton about insurance companies and prescription drugs, so, there’s that.

Barksdale is either blind or corrupt. Either way, he cannot do any more post-season games. If you are on the fence about baseball, the umpiring is enough to make this unwatchable. Horrible.

It was a crowd participation exercise, that’s all.

My humor is so dry that you didn’t realize that if the prize was a meal at Bickfords, there could not possibly be any winners.

It’s always been this bad, but the box on the broadcasts has now made the problem plain for all to see.
I think the umpiring has been, on balance, ok this postseason. But tonight's strike zone is awful. That called strike to Robles was a place a hitter would never swing - even to protect. Shoulder high and outside by three inches isn't even a strike in the Little League game I saw today that was umpired by a Ben Bernanke look-alike with a flannel shirt and a fluid notion of balls and strikes.

Tonight's strike zone is Exhibit A for robots-umps for ball/strikes. It's making a farce of the game.
It really is. Its an embarrassment and the league needs to really look at it. It also would eliminate the idea of the make-up call which is terrible in and of itself.
