The 3 batter minimum really changes the game in a spot like this. You bring a guy in, he’s all over the place and you’re stuck with him.
You could literally see Cash physically struggling with it. He knew Alvarado was not right way before the hitters did.

Timmons gonna make his dinner reservations!

I am OK with most of the recent rule changes, but I hate this one. I don't think it actually saves time and managers should be able to match up better if they choose.

Yeah, it’s ridiculous. Just don’t put in a commercial break and give the new pitcher fewer (or no) warm-up pitches.

Tomorrow is a no-lose perspective from BOS fans perspective, as I see it. If HOU finishes the comeback, BOS is no longer the only team to do it, but IMO more impressively they would remain the only AL team to knock out HOU between 2017-2020.

I really can't believe we've gotten to this point. It's depressing

These Devil Rays are complete frauds.
I regret ever cheering for them against anyone (other than the Original Chokers, who they will be joining in historic horrendous failure tomorrow.)

Haven’t really been paying a whole lot of attention to the playoffs to be honest. So, are these cheating pieces of trash really going to join us on the 3-0 comeback mountain? I mean it would be against another division rival so there’s that.

I agree 100%. This ‘offense’ is an absolute joke. If it wasn’t for Altuves horrible defense they would have been eliminated already. They are really hard to root for because they fail every time. What a complete embarrassment of an offensive showing.

Time to be loose. Do what you do. Pitch, defense, maybe a timely HR.
Time for leadership, from certain players and the manager. As great a strategist Cash has been in his managerial career, he will wear tonight’s outcome like an albatross if Rays lose. Until he wins it all.
No days off has hurt Tampa’s strongest asset, the bullpen, IMO.

All of you spewing hatred toward Tampa players probably weren't following the regular season and the ALDS. They were fabulous, without having any high-paid players. Their offense has not always been as cold as it is now. The HBP of Kiermaier has hurt them both in the lineup and in the outfield configuration. If any of you is a Red Sox fan, you should be ashamed of yourselves, in my humble opinion. Tampa kept the Yankees down. What did the Sox do?

Cash is a good manager. Rays are always prepared. He’ll make good decisions....doesn’t mean they will work out. You get some breaks, then you don’t get some breaks and here we are. Rays slayed one dragon in a pressure-packed winner take all affair last week, now it’s time to spin that wheel again. Astros are a great team and have more experience than anyone in high stakes playoff situations. It’s been a really competitive series so far. 21-20 total runs, a bunch of tight games, each team making great plays and getting some luck. Who knows what will happen tonight. You surf the waves of randomness in a deciding game, but I always have confidence in the Rays tweaking those odds in their favor as much as possible with the resources available to them. Good vibes, stay loose, make the most of your chances, everyone pitches in and hopefully you’re having celebratory dance-offs under the SoCal stars again.

Textbook preparation for tonight, VORP. Sums it up perfectly. Gonna be a late night with the 8:37 start.

Instead of shot of JD, just have Arozarena cook the pregame meal; chicken, rice, a sprinkling of Dbol and Winstrol and they'll all be good to go.

The Dodgers have not lost 3 in a row this year and then... there is this series.

He was a lot better today from what I saw, though. He did bounce one slightly but he made some other good plays with accurate throws.
Last play of the game, 6-4-3 double play, he had time but threw high and Gurriel had to leave his feet to catch it. It went to replay, called out. I hope the guy gets over it. The yips are sad to see from anybody’s perspective.

I think no travel makes the 0-3 scenario more likely to happen. No road games to contend with and playing every day.

The playing every day part is exactly what happened to the Sox in '04 too, because of a rain out that pushed back game three. They still had to travel, of course, but they played five straight days for games 3-7.

Probably just a coincidence, but interesting to think about. Hopefully the Rays make it moot! I can't really drudge up any animus towards them without going all the way back to, like, Gerald Williams, or the Brian Daubach fiasco. The Maddon-Longoria teams were annoyingly good, but my Devil Rays hatred stemmed from those teams. That was such a long time ago that it's more amusing to think about than anything.

Agreed. Travel days blunt momentum. That’s the common thread among these two series.

I’ll never be ashamed of hating the Rays. Screw them and their plucky underdog routine.

I’m glad you’re on loan for the postseason, ITP. You’re a good egg!
