Rothstein was floating something similar a few weeks back, along with an idea that there would be a "bubble" at Mohegan Sun for housing teams from multiple early season tournaments:

They also might have conference bubbles there as well. Some smaller conferences are thinking about playing games in pods meaning groups of teams in a conference would go to one specific school and play multiple games.

An analog clock that matches the digital one...so it resembles a scoreboard from the 40s or 50s.

The Mohegan Sun bubble event is a pay to play event. There's at least a $5,000 entry fee per game you want to play plus hotels/meals/etc.
The 9,500-seat arena at Mohegan Sun casino and resort in Uncasville, Conn. has hosted college basketball events in the past. This December, it could be the site of a high-profile “bubble event” for teams looking to get non-conference games against opponents under uniform COVID-19 testing protocols.

USA TODAY NETWORK New Jersey has obtained a proposed outline for the event, which is being run by the Princeton-based Gazelle Group in conjunction with the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Here are some noteworthy details — all tentative and subject to change:

--The playing window for games would be either Dec. 10-20 or Dec. 8-22, with participating teams required to book a minimum of two games up to a maximum of six games. Teams would be required to arrive at Mohegan Sun two days prior to their first game. (This period could conflict with final exams at many schools).
Participation for each school would cost either $5,000, $10,000 or $15,000 per game, depending on the conference “tier” of the teams involved (this fee would include COVID-19 protocol).

--Plus a hotel/food/beverage package of either $6,000 per day/night (for 15 rooms) or a build-your-own package of $200 per room/per night and $150 per person/per day for three meals.
Prior to arrival, everyone in the team travel party must produce a negative COVID-19 test result rendered within 72 hours of event arrival.

--Upon arrival at Mohegan Sun, they are required to take the COVID-19 Anterior Nares Detection Swab and will then quarantine in their hotel room until the results come back (within a day). After that, SalivaDirect tests will be administered every other day for the duration of the stay (expected turnaround time for results is 3-4 hours).

--Designated hotel floors, team meeting spaces and practice facility will be off limits to the public. Teams will take a private, back-of-the-house entrance into the game arena.

--According to the document circulated to prospective participants, “at this point, there will either be no fans admitted or a very limited capacity, using the upper level of the Arena. The property is open every day to guests so friends and family may attend Mohegan Sun and any interaction between friends and family are subject to review by each school.”

--A “national television partner” is expected to broadcast the event.

Only 15 rooms per team? Are they expecting teammates or coaches to double up?

ESPN is not going to put it's MTE's in a bubble in Orlando.

ESPN’s plans to set up an NBA-like bubble for its college basketball events in Orlando have been scuttled due to ongoing differences between the network and the participating schools regarding the health and safety protocols required for participation, The Athletic has learned. The decision impacts 10 events owned by ESPN and more than two dozen schools who were supposed to play in them, and it has thrown what was already a chaotic environment with regard to scheduling into further disarray just one month before the season is set to tip off on Nov. 25.

“We’ve decided to redirect our efforts to be sure the teams have enough time to make other plans,” Clint Overby, vice president of ESPN Events, told The Athletic. “At the end of the day our bias was toward safety and making sure that what we pulled off was in the best interests of the sport. In the absence of those things, we decided we’re better off letting schools do their own thing.”

The plans to move the ESPN Events from a variety of locations to Orlando were never finalized, so the network isn’t canceling anything so much as abandoning its efforts to bring it to fruition. Several teams had indicated their desire not to participate at the outset, and as the various parties got bogged down in the details of the health protocols, ESPN faced the prospect of losing even more participants.
Overby said the network hopes to salvage two doubleheaders, the Champions Classic and the Jimmy V Classic, at other locations. Michigan State, Kansas and Gonzaga were scheduled to play in one of the two remaining events as well as a multi-team event in Orlando. Virginia, Florida State and Texas Tech are among the dozens of teams that will be affected by the cancellation of the Preseason NIT, Orlando Invitational, Diamond Head Classic, Wooden Legacy, Charleston Classic and Myrtle Beach Invitational. If the Champions and Jimmy V do not happen, that would affect Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Baylor, Rutgers and Tennessee.

The home opener for the West Virginia University men’s basketball team against Youngstown State on Wednesday, Dec. 2, has been postponed due to the Penguins pausing team activities related to COVID-19.

The two schools are hoping to reschedule the game with a mutually agreeable date in December. More information will be released as it becomes available.

Tournaments start tomorrow and a slew of teams already are canceling. It’ll be impossible to know weekly who will play who.

Wow I didn't even think of that possibility, I hope the Mohegan Sun bubble included a stable of referees. That would suck to go through the trouble of getting the players tested and ready to go then have to cancel due to that.

Gonzaga looked really good today against Kansas. I was a bit worried about a let down given all the hype coming into the season but they played well today

Suggs looked sensational, and how is it that Gonzaga always seems to have an athletic 7 footer?
Impressive game today against the Jayhawks.

If those two teams swapped uniforms at halftime how long into the 2H do you think would it take before you noticed? Mirror images of one another.....positional size, system, pace, etc.

My early favorite for player making the leap to super stardom is Jeremiah Robinson-Earl at Villanova. 6-9, 230, can defend all 5 positions, knock down shooter, excellent handle, quickness, and strong finisher.

As a Richmond Spiders graduate, I'm thrilled to see the Spiders beat Kentucky and now earn a spot in the top-25. Of course, this season is a going to be an epic mess. I feel for the upperclassmen on the team who have clearly worked very hard to get better and better as a collective: they made a very strong case to get into the tournament last year before it was cancelled and now have to play with the uncertainty of a post-season even happening.
