He was very good in the preseason. What did you see that was different?
I just didn't see it. I know the numbers were good. He played against 3rd and 4th stringers, rarely seemed to make progressions past the first read, and seemed quick to panic. In Belichick we trust. But I think everyone is going to realize real quick how much this offense was dependent on Brady, and how his 2019 demise is greatly exaggerated. I can't wait to be wrong. I don't think Stidham sucks. I think his ceiling is like, Andy Dalton or Case Keenum or something.

You think a fan base that watched Brady for 2 decades doesn’t know how reliant the offense was on Brady? I think the bigger revelation will be just how good of an offensive mind is Josh McDaniels. Going from the GOAT to Stidham/Hoyer is going to be the ultimate test.

By the way, Gronk can put most of that size back on quickly. Strength may take awhile longer to come back, but the size shouldn’t be a problem even though it’s tougher to gain mass when doing cardio too, obviously.

I don’t know if he was a regular juicer, even straight I think he could regain 20-30 pounds by the fall. Casey Viator gained like 50 pounds in a month once:

Chances that a 31 year old Gronkowski is GRONK!! again are not great. His style of play led to injury in his prime years, so the chances of his holding up to a 16 game grind are not 100%. Then again, so are the chances of a 16 game season.

He has one year left on his deal, and no guarantee to play beyond that. So a 4th rounder for him plus a 7th is a fair deal. The Pats got a 4th for a player who wasn't going to play for them.
