Faldo was talking about his trophies. The jacket stays at the club when you aren’t reigning champion.
That was my understanding from what Faldo said.

He also mentioned that you only get one jacket. If you win again, you just put on your jacket, which is hanging in your locker. And then when your shape changes, you might get a new jacket.

Dj has been close here before and with the form he’s been in I guess it’s no surprise to see him up there. Still, it was nice to see him slam the door shut on these guys instead of letting them back into it like in past majors.

I think we talked about this in the PGA thread but it’s crazy to think that he’s under achieve, but he has. When his career is all said and done, given his skill set, he should have around 5-6 majors. He could still get there though.

He done well in several majors though. He always contends at Augusta and was the favorite the year he got thrown down the stairs. He's always there in the Us open too. He got Keopka'd once, Kaymer'd once, and almost beat Spieth. Things break a little differently and he would have 5 or 6

Because since the restart he’s been the best golfer in the world?

At Winged Foot we did a great job of it," DeChambeau said. "This week, we didn't. We didn't place it in the right places, and I mishit a lot of shots that usually are pretty easy for me.
"We"?

I'd argue that, he just gets a lot of pub because of his distance....there were at least 3 other guys that had multiple wins since the restart and he just stunk this week....just saying he shouldn't be favored, top-10 absolutely

You think Dechambeau has been better than DJ, who won the Fed Ex Cup and the Masters in the last few months and had 4 wins to Bryson's 2 since the summer?

It's DJ. his run since the restart has been Tiger like:

MC, T17, 1, MC, WD. T12, T2, 1, 2, T3*, T6, T2, 1

The * is for the Tour Championship which he "won" but finished 3rd in overall stroke play. A little bumpy coming out of the shut down but in his last 7 starts he has been beaten by a total of 11 players. He's unquestionably been the best player in the world over that time period.

That said, Bryson is not far behind. He just won a US Open by 6 shots. He finished 4th at the PGA. He's been a top 10 machine on tour. He's early in his process and is going to keep working at it relentlessly.

Apologies I should have said other than DJ (which was the context of the original question). Poor wording and quick posting by me.

Bryson and DJ have been the two best which is why they are the ones favored for next year.

From the article: But there are still plenty of people on property. They’re masked (besides the players) and they’re Covid-tested (each had to show a negative test to get in) and they’re there.
