I guess it was only a matter of time but just made official. I’m not sure that I would have gone*, but it’s a bummer either way.

* in 48 hours I’ll have deluded myself into thinking that I would have gone to 20+ games

"Bummer" is right Al. I've been watching the Sox minor league system forever, and can't ever remember a lost season. In addition to my love of following the Sox minor leaguers, it also makes watching the big club more palatable in the sense that they play mostly the same key guys over and over for most of the season...boring sometimes!

Yeah, this sucks(COVID, not the decision to cancel MiLB). The Yard Goats were becoming a really fun, new summer ritual for me in the last couple years. Though I wouldn't likely have attended this year, even if they were playing w/fans in attendance.

About 8 months ago, was looking forward to watching a bunch of Sea Dogs/Spinners/Yard Goats/PawSox games this summer. Oh well.

The handwriting was on the wall at the end of May when teams started the massive releases of these kids. It's just the final blow that these towns will not have their teams to support and provide jobs for the community. Devastating to a lot of these small towns. And of course, the kids who are trying to follow the path to The Show. For many of them, the dream died right there.

Certainly the situation here in Binghamtom...it must be devastating to the new owner who invested a Fton of money and facing the issue of losing the partnership with the Mets...

This will devastate many owners and teams. When Minor League baseball returns it will be interesting to see what it looks like. My guess is very different than what it was at the end of 2019. It's a big hit to many local economies as well.

I agree. I think the fallout is going to make the owners' previous contraction plan look like a dream scenario by the time MiLB is able to resume.
