ESPN should let Rusillo(as a guest) Jaylen and whatever their version of KOC is do the draft. This group absolutely sucks.

Yeah, I just meant stashing players in the G league isn't an option. Not that I know of anyway.
You can, I think a few late 2nds have done it, much like the guard we drafted that I can't remember the name of who went to Australia first

I would have been much more excited by Udoku at 26 and best available PG at 30.
We don't have the roster spots for it, no way Ainge was coming out of this draft with 3 players picked in the first unless Bolmaro was one of them

If Smith is right.... that's a real 1st?

Utah's 1st round pick to Memphis protected for selections 1-7 and 15-30 in 2021, 1-6 in 2022, 1-3 in 2023 and 1 in 2024; if Utah has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Memphis by 2024, then Utah will instead convey its 2025 2nd round pick and 2026 2nd round pick to Memphis [Memphis-Utah, 7/6/2019]

Unless Memphis puts new protections on it before trading it, which they might it looks likely to be a late 1st in 2022.

If it’s the Utah pick it might actually be interesting:

2021 first round draft pick from Utah
Utah's 1st round pick to Memphis protected for selections 1-7 and 15-30 in 2021, 1-6 in 2022, 1-3 in 2023 and 1 in 2024; if Utah has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Memphis by 2024, then Utah will instead convey its 2025 2nd round pick and 2026 2nd round pick to Memphis [Memphis-Utah, 7/6/2019]

wait, I’d rather have that pick than this years 30th. Seems too good

nighthob kept telling us this was a role-player draft and the Celts got a wing shooter and a backup PG both of which fill needed roles for the C's. The 30th pick was never going to make the roster and if its used to attach an superfluous player for $$ purposes, so be it. Danny was roster building and got two elements he feels he needed. The next two days might be more interesting than the draft

Which is a fairly reasonable return for one pick higher than a 2nd rounder.

Incorrect
If it's the Utah pick, yeah. I'm not sure it's a given Utah is even a playoff team next year and the pick could fall between 7-14. We'll see soon.

I agree it's reasonable too, just not expecting much. If they got rid of Vincent in the process, it's a good deal even if it is a 2nd.

I was saying this was a great draft for filling what the Celtics needed. Shooting and bigs. Well they filled the shooting needs for the bench.

Daniel Oturu's dad is 5'5." That has to be some sort of record for shortest father of NBA center.

Can only change protections, to a pick that isn't originally yours, that was unprotected.

Can't change the Utah pick.
Something is wrong then. That pick is too good for 30 and letting us get out of VP

I believe so, that’s what Philly did on the pick(s) they sent in the Fultz/Tatum deal, right?

Edit: not entirely correct per the below.
They did with with the Lakers pick that the Celtics ended up not getting, changing it from unprotected, to protected for pick 1 and 6-30.
