So to sum it up:

2nd - S Dugger - super athletic, freak athlete at S with huge size at the position. Versatile.
2nd - LB Uche - super athletic LB with good size and power. Versatile.
3rd - LB Jennings - excellent instinctive LB from a premier program, very solid fundamentally. Versatile.
3rd - TE Asiasi - great size, good speed, stretches the seams
3rd - TD Keene - good size, excellent speed, versatile, can line up anywhere

The Pats have had an excellent draft so far, and they still have a 5th, four 6ths, and a 7th - so six more picks over the four remaining rounds.

I know we all have our expectations, but damn, this feels like a really good draft for a team that needed one.
I think they had an excellent first 2 picks, a good 3rd, a gamble 4th pick, and a bad decision in trading up for Keene.

Given the shambles the OL was at times last year, combined with the re-retirement of Dante, I'd guess that there was a substantial worry about keeping Stidham upright. Obviously providing some size and blocking talent at both TE spots goes quite a ways towards that goal. The bonus will be if either/both can catch when things speed up and be a reliable offensive threat if matchups dictate it - not to mention solid safety valves when Stidham needs to check down.

IF that's BB's thinking (or anything resembling "a young QB needs reliable TE play"), and he is comfortable that one or both could meet the bill - I'm not going to critique his choice to move around to get what he wants. At the end of the day, I'd prefer to look at the totality of what the draft brought and decide whether or not I liked what was walking into the locker room. Did it meet needs, did it meet strategic goals, did it impact the future negatively (loss of resources)? If his gut as a GM is that another team is going to make a move on a TE and he needs to spend another pick to move up, how would I know a) that there was that pressure (or not), b) whether the pressure was real c) how the team felt about what remained on the board in general and specifically at that position. There is also the unstated but obvious fact that the circumstances around the draft and scouting/interviews were weird this year.

I have a hard time critiquing a set of decisions designed to get that set of attributes/potential in the TE position - short of a Hershel Walker deal.

There's no need to guess about demand at the position, New Orleans picked Trautman four picks later at #105.

I tuned out and we used our early picks tomorrow for another TE now, go figure.

So we don't have any 4th rounders left, right? I could see them trading back into that with that hoard of 6ths and a 5th.

Yeah, 1 5th 4 6ths and a 7th left, no 4ths.

This is the perfect double-up!!! Keene is the highest ceiling TE not named Kmet in this draft class and Asiasi has the highest floor. @Super Nomario HT for elling me to watch this guy.
My wife is a Hokie alum and by default I'm a Hokie fan. VT was a really tough watch at times, but Keene was a joy to watch all the time. This is a great, great pick.

So, Belichick’s dog has an IG page, @theswooshdog, which says his parents are Bill, his girlfriend, and 2 blonde twins who are style coordinators and DJs, which is...

Do they all live in a party house or something?

I will say, they haven't picked any of the guys I really wanted, but they have generally picked the TYPE of players I was hoping for, and avoided all of the mistakes I worried about (esp. picking TE or QB early in a shitty class for both because they felt they had to fill a NEED)
This articulates my thinking last night. If you told me going in they’d take a S at 37 then trade up for an OLB / Edge I’d have been thrilled - because I would have assumed McKinney / Winfield and then maybe Okwara. Hopefully Dugger and Uche are good players.
Tims4wins back on the train baby!!!
I deserve every bit of shit I got last night.

I’m very happy with yesterday’s outcome. I liked how he moved around the board to get what he wanted. Three exciting (to me anyway) defensive players and two tight ends who look like they can be good.. Filling a desperate need.

And still have six picks left for today to fill the edges or find a diamond in the rough.

I won’t be watching today but will be following along online. So far, in my mind, an A for BB and his dog.

Seems like we still have some holes to fill:
- A kicker so hopefully Blankenship is on their radar, maybe for one of the 6th round picks
- Jules is getting up there in age and wear and tear so need to start grooming a replacement slot receiver
- We're too slow at receiver so a speed wideout
- Don't we also need a big-ass run stuffer >340 lbs?

Six picks today. Kicker in the sixth. They picked up a couple of receivers in free agency that might help. Byrd and Lee is who I’m referring to. Byrd could replace Jules. But I still expect them to snag at least one.

And agree on some big body on the D line. But again, six picks to take care of these things. They won’t be all Americans but they probably can find useful players still.

It was really pretty impressive that he sat there and waited for the command instead of just grabbing them.
He didn't want to have to run the discipline hill... I am sure Bill has one installed special on the Nantucket compound for just such occasions.
