Healthy Cam (weeks 1-3, 8-10)

117/168, 69.6%, 1280 yards, 3/2 TD/INT, 240 yards rushing, 8 TDs.

Others can quibble, but it's clear that he was still struggling with after-effects of COVID and lack of practices against Denver and SF.

Liked that one play to Izzo but man would LOVE to see Asiasi and Keane start getting involved in the offense. I know it's a huge transition from college but it seems like TE production is still something that could really complement this scheme.
Aren't they both on IR?

What do you guys think of that short throw in the end zone to a wide open WR (who was that?) elements, just one of those things? That was a big miss

Asiasi will be eligible to play against the Cardinals, Keene the following week (start of 3 consecutive road games).

I’m hoping Jordan Thomas flashes something this week (against his former team).

It looked like he hurried that throw, caused bad footwork (again) and couldn't step into it. I'll leave it up to the experts on this forum, however.

I couldn't really tell from the available replay angles but, from what i saw, while Myers was open, there was a good amount of traffic in between he and Cam so the throw was a bit tighter than it seemed.

Yeah one of those replays showed a damn tight angle through traffic, with an LB or S sitting on Cam's eyes. It was a much harder throw than it looked like, and he squeezed it a bit.

Yeah--Meyers was "open", but there was traffic between Cam and him.

I blame it on Myers who stopped in the end zone, if he kept running Cam could have led him. Instead he saw the traffic closing in between him and Myers.
I just watched it again; Meyers didn't stop. He was running until the throw was behind him and then he had to slip down.

Yeah it looked to me that it was a throw that could have been off due to a wet football. Regardless, it was a poor throw.
Cam gave an interview today, said throwing that particular pass felt like a 'medicine ball' and that he knew as soon as it left his hand it was short.

Man the 2017 draft picks for the Pats did not pan out. I had high hopes for Rivers but too many injuries. He played in just 15 games and his career high was 24 snaps in a game.
Important to remember that the Pats didn’t pick until the 3rd round. Of course, they sandwiched 2 busts around Chris Godwin.

Right. The 1st round pick for Cooks worked out well. The 2nd round pick for Kony Ealy not so much.

Not that it's great, but they only had 4 picks, 3 mid and 1 late, and Wise has been a decent player for them

He also has no accuracy on even the simplest of throws. What did he have 6 passes in the dirt?

Play Stidham, for better or worse - what's the difference at this point

Pats giving Cam a shot made sense, but I don't want to see him take another snap at QB.

Stidham or Dolegala out there from now on.

His lack of accuracy and touch on short throws is brutal. Bouncing passes to the backs, air-mailing short outs, and even some of his completions on mid-yardage crossing routes are bad throws, failing to lead receivers, and sacrificing RAC and YAC. To say nothing of his atrocious lack of feel for pressure in the pocket. I've seen enough. There's nothing to be gained by continuing to roll him out there, even if in their heart of hearts they don't think Stid is a long term option. Give him some extended game action, and find out for sure.

On top of all of that they have completely gone away from using Cam’s athleticism. No RPOs, barely even a designed rollout. He either hands the ball off or it’s a straight drop back pass. If there’s no threat of Cam hurting you by running or scrambling I’m not sure of the point of continuing to play him.

It just occurred to me: Cam reminds me of late-career Bledsoe. Does enough things right to put up some stats but fails at so many basic things that the team loses again and again.
That occured to me as well...

Cam reminds me of late stage Bledsoe, in the sense that he’ll still make some outstanding throws, but too often will tank plays in a way that is unacceptable for an NFL QB1. Some of those bounced passes today were bewildering.

This.

They have completely abandoned the RPO.

I don't get it.

I want nothing to do with Cam next year. He makes this team almost unwatchable. We went from a guy who is the best I have ever seen at coming up big in big situations to one of the worst. Big drive coming up, I know we can turn it off because he will find a way to lose.

Maybe it’s just me but Cam looks slow and plodding when he runs. Could be that he has lost a step and RPO is not viable.

Its like I'm watching the 1999 Patriots with Cam as Drew Bledsoe except we have a better coach in BB than Pete Carroll. This is miserable. Being 8-8 or 7-9 is a waste of time especially when you have no QB of the future. They really need a top 5 pick to get a QB.

I asked the question earlier in the thread. How the heck do we know if Jarrett is any good or not? We have only seen him in blowouts. I actually thought he looked decent against KC. What proof do you have he sucks?

I thought he looked pretty good in the Miami game, but maybe you're right.

That loss today pretty much closes the door on the playoffs.

The way they are trending, 6-10, 5-11 is still on the table.

Not sure what that gets you.

Cam has been a disappointment, but to me, the front 7 has been a disaster, zero pressure today, all day to throw.

This AND - at this point it’s hard to imagine Cam coming back because there’s such a clear sense that he’s not the right kind of QB for this system, which depends so much on awareness, being “on time,” a Real sense of rhythm, etc... So, given that, why the hell not run him into the ground with RPOs or more planned scrambles? We don’t have to worry about putting too much tire on the tread or risking injury to a key piece now and down the road. If you’re going to play him, of course try our best to run our system and do whatever it takes to win (since that’s how BB is wired), but just let him run, don’t worry about getting too reckless with his body.

Were any of the league’s current elite QBs top-5 picks? Mahomes, Wilson, Rodgers, Watson, Jackson, Allen ... a couple top-10s in there, but no top 5s. Maybe I’m missing something.

They’re all 1st rounders except Wilson, so you do have to place a bet at some point, but you don’t need to tank and destroy your culture.

Mahomes isn't top 5? Wow, what's your top 5?

By the time the 4th quarter rolled around, I was rooting for the loss. It would have been nice to see them try to make thins interesting, but it's clear this team is going nowhere. Yesterday had the added benefit of both helping their draft position and hurting Miami's.

Agreed ... I just wish I had confidence that those making the draft picks could figure out the TE/WR positions.

I could not get over the play where a DB charged the line so hard that he actually was offsides for a second, reset stood at the line, and still got the sack...how do you not see that and adjust.
Was that the play that was some sort of gadget play and I think Harry blew right past the defender and let him walk in and make the sack?
