I am going to be away from December 14th through December 25th, taking care of a very sick mother in law and trying our best to celebrate Christmas.

So I cannot commit to the draft, I just can't deal, but my dues are paid for in advance because they are rolled over, so you can replace me with someone and they get a free entry. I am sorry.

Also, the above payout structure isn't written in stone. I'd like to discuss what to do about the Tour Championship. I believe they are continuing to do that weird tournament where people start at tiered levels. Personally, I do not feel that should reflect our year end standings.

My vote would be to have the Tour Championship, tiered starting positions included, as a stand alone $50 tournament, but have the end of year standings end at the BMW Championship.

I'm up for discussing it though.

Does anyone (who isn't in the league already) want to draft a team for John? I'd like him to have a rooting interest.

I know someone who'd do it for sure but want to ask the board first. It's a commitment from mid December to around mid January to check the board at least once a day...

First, best wishes to john. If I thought I could actually represent him well. I'd want only to be his proxy. But I know I couldn't so I'm out.

John, really sorry to hear the news. If nobody outside the league wants to draft a team for him, I hope we can figure out a way to do it as a group somehow. Wouldn't want to lose him, and considering it's really only 11 days, which might only mean a few picks, I figure there's something we can do.

What's TFP's paypal?

Zomp, thanks as always for running with this.

Isn't that what we're essentially doing with my proposal?
I might’ve read your proposal wrong. Do I have this correct?

- Season points standings end at the BMW, season long winnings tallied.

- TC is a stand-alone tournament. Are you thinking about eliminating the tiers and just count it as stroke play and then giving $50 to the lowest player, or giving the $50 to the FedEx winner? My proposal is for the latter.

To me, this is the most important part and I am indifferent to how we handle the last tournament. The tiers based on FedCup points is hokey and we have a history of ignoring tour oddities (B tournaments, team events, etc).

I think Zomp is suggesting including the Tiers so we aren't manually changing the tournament results. What's unclear is whether the winner is determined by team points (stand alone tournament) or individual winner (FedEx Cup Winner). As I said above, I'm good with either.

If someone wants to take over the role of drafting my team, they can have 95% of the winnings, should there be any.

All good with me. But I'll let Zomp make the final decision. And thank you all for the well wishes!

John:

If you’re willing to give me your proxy, I’ll handle the draft for you during the time you are away.

It will be your team - we can converse ahead of time by PM and I’ll only draft from the list you provide. But you won’t have to worry about the draft for the time you need to be away.

Your call.

Sorry , yeah I meant keep the tiers and still do team standings for the TC as a stand-alone tournament. But I don’t care either way. We could do that or the fedex champion.
Either way as long as it ends at the BMW I’m good.

I’m in favor of starting the draft early and maybe we can get it done by the 14th in which case John could still draft his own team.

Looking forward to this!

Like a few others I also need the PayPal/Venmo address to send the rest of my money, could someone share it with me?

FYI I'll be posting the draft order tomorrow. Officially we'll start picking on Monday.
Hopefully @johnmd20 you can get your first few round picks in. We can figure out a way to finish out the draft for you once you're unavailable.

Thank you. I can pick Monday through Friday next week, all systems go. I'm going to be offline on the 14th for definitely the first half of the day, but maybe I'll just suck it up and pick while I can when I'm in Cleveland. My MiL isn't doing great, but that doesn't mean I can't check SoSH every now and then. I really didn't want to be disrespectful to her,(picking a fantasy team while she's struggling) but upon further review, it probably won't be. I overreacted in the thick of the bad news.

Just count me in for the draft, I'll get it done. I do appreciate the support from every, but a major shout out to Zomp, TFP, and, especially, Mr.AverageReds.

Then why are we collecting money? We can just do it for friendsies.

And this has nothing to do with John, just in general we should ensure everyone is on an even playing field. I don't think that's asking too much

TFP, just sent the money. Sorry for the delay. I don't check this forum nearly as much as I should. Zomp, thanks for the head's up.

FYI, Rob Oppenheim is willing to do a chat with SoSH if folks are interested. I made a post about it in his thread. I won't press the issue if there's not enough interest, and I have no idea how to set something like that up logistically, but he's on board and after the holidays, before his season starts is probably our only real chance.

Everyone is paid up. Thanks! Draft order should be posted today.

As far as John's picks go, he said he'd get it done. I have a back up plan if not. The guy who runs my other league would step in for John to pick for him, but I'd confirm John wants the guys he suggests via text.

BUT John said he could do it, and I think we're all okay if he takes longer than the 24 hours. We're starting a week earlier than last year.

I know I'm going to sound like a dick, but I don't like the idea of other people in the same draft knowing someone else's picks ahead of time.
If it makes a difference:

1. As we all know, our hopes and dreams are often crushed in the draft and so best-laid plans get thrown to the side and we just take the “best available guy.” This is especially true in the middle rounds. (At least for me.)

2. I was the guy who was going to have his proxy.

3. I appear to suck at this.

Cheers.

Whatever you say, pal.

The worst part about your asinine post, which was the pinnacle of asshole, is you wrote it AFTER I said I would get the draft done and that I had overreacted a few weeks ago. You're a good man, seriously, nobody is better.

And apparently my backup was a dated plan anyway, so we’re good.
