I think the Yates thread and Curran article (RKK won’t come to the rescue) are just the Patriot camp response to some of the recent Brady social media silliness (49erz!, Darlington, Bro’ing with Vrabes).

I DO agree that I think Brady is trying to rustle up bids, but I don’t think Belichick and RKK are fazed in the least.

I don’t think Brady will carry a new team to a championship. He might win one, but he won’t carry the team like he has with the Patriots. JMHO. Similarly, if he returns, I find it hard to believe Belichick will sell out on weapons for Tom and handicap the defense. Therefore I don’t think Brady will be happy with whatever choice he makes. Belichick, on the other hand, will be prepared in any case.

I jumped to the last post and saw Van’s post first and freaked a little as well. We’re all a little jumpy. :)

At this stage of the game, do we really think the richest woman in the world needs her primary home for the next 2 NFL seasons (or next 18 months or so) to be in a "warm" location as opposed to using vacation homes, hotels and all the things you could do as the richest woman in the world to be in warm places while TB plays in the football-strategically best place for him for those 2 seasons?

Not picking on you, but I really don't think anything but ability to win now with the right team is a factor.
i hope u are right if i was brady it wouild be the pats bears bucs and 4gers in that order

Shocker. There’s not a huge market for a 43 year old QB.
You need to get you tinfoil hat on: The Titans found a second-tier insider at ESPN to poo-poo their interest in Brady ... a week after the Vrabel-Brady FaceTime "tampering" publicity.

"Brady would love the opportunity to play in Tennessee" sounds like a press release from the Tennessee Department of Tourism.

Since Merloni on the radio today can't wrap his brain around anything Yates wrote being true, here's a scenario:

Summer 2019

Pats: Since 2019 will be your last season under contract, Tom, why don't we rework your 2019 salary upward a bit and add on two more seasons (2020 and 2021) as we did previously? Brees-neighborhood money for the 2 added seasons.

Brady: The money is in the ballpark, but I want a contract that takes me through the 2022 season.

Pats: Tom, you're the GOAT, but we can't commit in 2019 to a 45-year-old starting QB in 2022. Two-year extension?

Brady: No way. The last place I want to end up is negotiating at age 44 for a 1-year contract. We both know it would be a major hassle for me to pack up and head to a new team to get in one additional season to end my career (and a limited number of teams interested). I want to sign a deal now that will take me through the end of my career.

Pats: We just can't commit to a 3-year extension at this point.

Brady: OK, shelve the extension. I want to be a free agent after 2019 season and see what's out there for me in terms of a last contract. I've earned it. If I'm going to a new team, it will be in 2020 or never.

Pats: OK

Hard to imagine Brady going to TB, but that would have to be the largest upgrade in QB decison making in the history of the league to go from Winston to TB

As someone who hopes Tom returns to NE, I don't love the Gronk news from today.

I would think that Gronk would be more likely to return to football if he thought Tom was returning to NE. Perhaps today's news indicates that Gronk doesn't see that happening.

And yes, it's quite possible that Gronk was never going to return to the NFL and he, like most people, has no idea what Brady is doing next.

I'm all set with a washed up Gronk who's lost 30-40lbs of muscle. He'd be a shell of himself. Good for him for moving on.

If he's going to WWE, he'll have that muscle back, PED'd to the gills, with the part-timer exemption from PED testing.

As for TB in TB, that was my bet back when the season ended. It seemed just silly enough, like Montana to the Chiefs or Namath on the Rams.

Curran's podcast was really interesting yesterday:

-- thinks the Field Yates stuff came straight from BB
-- thinks that BB and Brady are both being stubborn (BB claims he's made an offer and has no interest in coddling Brady while Brady wants to be stroked before he'll agree to come back) and neither wants to be the first one to give. Thinks this is going to end badly and that Kraft is screwing up by staying out of it.
-- desperately tried to get the Niners' main beat writer to buy into Brady to SF and was unsuccessful, but noted that Mike Lombardi wrote a long column about why Brady to SF makes sense.

Meanwhile, BSG is convinced that this is all nonsense designed to create a compelling first documentary for Brady's new production house.

Gronk at 6'6", 245 (which is apparently what he's at now, having lost 20-25 lbs), would still be an imposing passing target, and still bigger than most tight ends. He would just be Gronk, and not GRONK. And Gronk is still probably a pretty damned good football player, better than most at the position, and absolutely still an upgrade over what they currently have.

But no matter. He's really gone.

I wonder if the NFL will do anything. Their league year makes the impact here relatively less severe than for other leagues.

(Hopeful) Silver lining of the corona situation: reducing all of the nauseating TB12 chatter over the next week
I think you are dreaming. There will be no other sports events going on, so the reporters will have nothing better to do than to speculate on what their "sources" are saying w.r.t Brady.

They will have to do better than that if they want to keep him.
They can't go much higher and expect to field a competitive team with the holes they have. I don't think BB really wants to keep Brady at a massive rate and for 2 years.

I think the NFL should make the draft like one round per day. Really drag it out, maybe even a day or so between rounds. That'll give people tons of time to write articles about all the sleepers that are still available in the 5th round :)

"More of the same" at $13-15 million isn't even correct. Brady was paid over $20 million guaranteed for the 2019 season, even before any incentives.

Besides, wouldn't they need the second year to be part of the deal to spread the money out?

Yea, you’re right. This thread has been nothing but rational and data driven. My bad.
Posting IB is the social media equivalent of Covid19. You posted it, and multiple people starting responding to it, spreading the virus. Hes proven time and again that he literally just makes shit up and lies about sources. He has no sources. There is zero reason to post anything he writes here.

Is it possible Brady just wants three years guaranteed? We keep talking about money but the one thing we know—that we actually know—is that he wants to play until he’s 45. And maybe that’s the thing Bill is letting him go out and see if he can get.
