Big 4th qtr for the Nets against the Bucks. When Middleton is average the Bucks don't have enough.
He is averaging his post game routine in the locker room so they really lack all their firepower.

And that was a soft F2 if ever there was one. If Brown were on Boston the gamethread would kill him for slowing down on his run out.

Philly bench got outscored 39-8 tonight. And Harden looked old. Young Pistons were still running in fourth quarter when they went on a 29-15 closing run.

Time to start resting players, Doc.

Giannis heard all year that Durant was the best player in the NBA, Durant's foot was on the line, etc. Giannis is the BEST player in the NBA.

Absolutely nuts in LAC/CHI...

Clippers accidentally foul BEFORE the inbounds... giving CHI a FT down 3.
Now down 2 with 3 seconds, CHI inbounds and PG fouls DEROZAN TAKING A 3? (he's shooting like 30% for the last 3 months)

But Derozan misses a FT so we go to OT.

Any score keeping gurus here?

Carmelo misses jumper. Ball bounces off the rim and out of bounds as Mitchell chases it to ensure no Laker retrieves the ball but never touches it prior to going out of bounds.

I was always under the impression that this was rules a dead ball rebound and awarded as a team rebound without an individual receiving credit. Yet the Jazz scorekeeper credited Mitchell with a defensive rebound.

Is this correct or was that some good ole home cooking?

I don't know who the "best" player in the NBA is but given his recent body of work, Giannis seems to get better at everything during close and late situations. Its like they level him up or something. Tonight and Tuesday were just the most recent examples.

CHI looks like it's going to survive and win to stay in the 5 seed ahead of TOR. Looks like BRK is going to be 7 or 8 seed.

Yeah it seems almost criminal that everyone has it down to Jokic and Embiid. To me it should be 1. Giannis, 2. Jokic and gap to 3. Embiid

or 9 or 10. They're in a 3 way tie for 8/9/10 and CHA and ATL both have better records in the last 10, if BRK loses to ATL next game they may well be playing in the 9/10 game

Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant in the playoffs. I mean no way KD lets BRK get knocked out in play-in tourney, at least IM(not so accurate)O.

Embiid and Jokic have played really well; but Giannis feels like he is closing super-strong with some marquee performances this week. It's been a really great race this year.

I generally think that, but if you had to pick 2 teams that could do it it's 2 wildly inconsistent teams that live and die by the 3. I could definitely see a game where Durant has 45 and it doesn't matter because CHA or ATL make 10-12 more 3s, much like the games CHA won earlier vs. BRK.

Chicago's final schedule is pretty brutal. They aren't catching the Celts
I'm more worried about the Raptors catching the Celtics, although the Celts have the head-to-head tiebreaker. 76ers have to be careful too - only 1.5 up over the Raps and the Raps have that season series 2-1 with one more head to head next Thursday in Toronto. This season has been crazy.

Durant and Kyrie have been playing pretty excellent basketball over the past few weeks, yet the team is right at about .500 since the Harden trade. The rest of the squad simply isn't that good and they have a lot of holes, particularly with a lack of wing shooting. I don't think Simmons is playing for them this season; they absolutely could lose in the play-in tournament.

If they were in the 9-10 game I’d agree bc anything can happen in one game. The odds are extremely slim that they lose consecutive play-in games.

They are currently in a 3-way tie for the 8/9/10 spot with Charlotte and Atlanta. I agree that it's really hard to see them losing consecutive play in games (although I imagine most of us said the same thing about last year's Warriors), but there is a real chance they have to win 2 games to get into the playoffs. It's not likely if for no other reason then the fact that they have the easiest closing schedule (Cleveland and Atlanta, then three lottery teams), but they are just 8-6 since KD came back, the superstar version Kyrie typically only shows up when he plays 3 games every 2 weeks, and at this point the smart money is on Simmons not making his Nets debut until the fall.

Yeah 8-6 but the only “bad” loss is the Hornets. They lost @Boston & @Memphis, Dallas by 2, Bucks in OT. After this trip to Atlanta they finish with pretty much 4 Byes so as you say it is not likely……which is why I don’t know why being tied for 8/9/10 really matters much. Once the Raptors went full blown Juggernauts it was going to take something drastic to occur for them to finish worse then 7th with the Cavs collapse.

What a weird night, Grizzlies bench (4 starters sat) easily beats the Suns.
Wizards obliterate the full strength Mavs

Not watching at the moment, but it looks like the Pels and LAL are tied up at halftime. Hoping to wakeup to see the Lakers further out of the play-in.

AD is back (and showing up, 23/10/6), Lebron is having another monster game (38/7), Westbrook hit a couple of 3s at the start of the 4th quarter, but they can't pull away. 3 point game with 4 minutes left.

Lakers inexplicably take 6 seconds to foul. McCollum drains 2. Pels up 3, Laker ball with season, such as it is, on the line. 9 seconds left.

Got to be pretty sweet if you are New Orleans, especially for someone like Ingram, to win these last two games against the Lakers.

The Pelicans without Zion are a pretty mediocre bunch - below average on both offense and defense and 9 games under .500. AD comes back and their big 3 is all together for the first time in a month and a half, and they still can't win what is essentially a playoff game for them.

Even when healthy, those three are an ugly fit on both offense (it's 2022, having your three best offensive players shoot a combined 32% from 3 on 13 attempts per game means your offense is lousy) and defense (AD is still great when he plays and Lebron can lock in occasionally, but Westbrook is terrible and Lebron is just as bad 90% of the time). It's mind boggling that so few analysts saw this sort of performance coming.

It was a bit of a desperate move when they traded for him, but CJ McCollum has been killing it in New Orleans. In 20 games he is averaging 26-5-6, shooting 50% from the field and 39% from three.

LeBron was losing it on Stanley Johnson for not fouling, he had the rookie too. Instead Westbrook has to foul out while fouling CJ, the last guy you want.

Lakers are 1 back of SA....
but really it's 2 because SA has the tiebreaker.

LAL remaining games.... Nuggets home, @ Suns, @ Warriors, Thunder Home, @ DEN
Spurs remaining games... POR home (they beat them twice by a combined 56 points in the last 10 days), @DEN, @MIN, home GSW, @DAL.

He’s added such an element to this team. The Pelicans offense has been lethal since the CJ trade and a healthy Ingram to go along with Valenciunas. The thing is that your upside is capped at maybe 50 wins tops when these are your best players.

If you had the over on 82 losses for the Lakers and Nets combined, come up and collect your prize.

83 and counting…

I'm sure Lebron secretly wants that scoring title at his age. He needs to play a couple more games to qualify too - otherwise, he isn't listed.
