Yeah but Fox was picked before the Doncic draft. He was in the same draft as Tatum. Simmons said the Kings wasted 3 lottery picks on PGs after the Doncic draft. Plus ending up with Fox and Haliburton is a good haul for a 5th, 12th and 9th pick. Mitchell the jury is out on. Those 3 picks are not why the Kings suck.
agreed. Simmons at work. Bill not Ben ;)

Yes, but: the fact that they made a whole bunch of other terrible decisions doesn’t preclude the fact that Walton was an idiot and a credibly accused date rapist who was never head coach material in the first place. That they stuck with the dumbest coach in the league even after he was credibly accused of rape is very Kangz, though. (And further evidence of how good it is to be white, male, and from a famous family.)
Kinda irresponsible to throw around “credible accused date rapist” when the woman never bothered to file a police report, refused to cooperate with the NBA but wasn’t shy to go for a civil suit before dropping it due to her having zero evidence. Let’s not lower the “credible” bar that much……it hurts the victims.

Reports that MPJ's back injury is a nerve issue which may require season-ending surgery. Would be his third back surgery.

https://www.denverpost.com/2021/11/21/nuggets-michael-porter-jr-nerve-injury-back-surgery/

Dude cannot stay healthy and you have to be very, very concerned at this point don't you? Bummer for Denver who could be a contender this year but with Murray out and MPJ uncertain....
That contract extension is looking dubious. Can’t imagine insurance would cover much, if anything, given the pre-existing condition.

I'll never really get over the Kings having their best season in 15 years in the one year that we had their draft pick. Other than 2019, they've averaged 28 wins per season since their last playoff appearance (2006). If they had 28 wins in 2019, we would have been in line for the 5th pick in the draft (it was the Hawks pick, ended up being #8).
You know, it would have been much nice here had the Romeo Langford thread been replaced with the Tyler Herro thread.

Last year when MPJ went off I felt like it was in some ways the worst thing that could have happened to the Nuggets as it forced them into a very difficult decision. Like when Chris Davis hit 47 bombs with a .361 going into FA and signed a deal that is still on the books next year.

I guess all they can do now is get him the best care/training money can buy and hope for the best?

And hope he loves the game because he's getting paid regardless.

The NBA requires teams to have insurance on its top 5(?) contracts. I recall back to Amare when they had to go with an outside insurer to provide the coverage but iirc the league rules require it.

An amazing tidbit from the Luke Walton post-mortems.... his .422 winning percentage is the 2nd best in franchise history. Imagine Luke Walton being the 2nd most successful coach you've ever had.

I’m surprised any carrier would even take on that risk. The premium must have been hefty. Good for the Nugs though.

around the way
Luke Waltons 2nd best winning percentage only applies to the Sacramento version of the Kings I'm pretty sure (from 1984 onwards). Still remarkably awful...
Saw that as I was checking the BR page. And both of our points stand.

1 championship and only 2 other conference finals appearances in 73 seasons. They're the pre-Theo Cubs.

Yup. Even taking into the coaches post move to Sacramento, there have been EIGHTEEN. And .422 ranks 2nd. It's abominable.

They are I would say (with some amusement now) the pre-Kraft Patriots aren't they? Because in addition to not winning, they are regularly thought of as a halfass organization and doing all sorts of clownshow things.

They can only hope their next owner is as good as the Pats owner who saved us all from that ignominy

Premium must be high I remember reading about Amare’s but forget the exact pct. There is almost always a price…..I’ll never forget Grant Hill’s presser when he signed with the Magic as he hopped up to the stage on crutches. I remember thinking to self, “What could possibly go wrong with this signing?” The Magic were also able to acquire insurance for his contract. I’d guess that underwriter didn’t last lol.

The Chris Webber Kings got screwed out of a title, though.
Bingo.

On mjp, there was an angle/storyline last year on all the teams that passed him up and a particular spotlight on the clippers team doctor for not giving the ok....well this is why

He has to have nothing left, right?
I thought he played really well in his role on the Clippers last year. He looked quicker than he had in years and was productive for them. If Serge wasn’t an option I’m sure the Clippers would have re-signed Cousins.

He played well on offense, not so much on the other end , but he might be able to give then 10-15 min a night

I didn’t think his defense was bad and he was strong on the defensive glass. Of course that is against second units who won’t expose him as much but that’s now his optimal role moving forward like a Dwight or a Drummond.

Sorry, but I have no idea why this is posted here. Please enlighten me as I am totally clueless on these kind of shows. Thanks.
Because Iman Shumpert is a former NBA player. Since this is a catch-all for NBA-related news, I dropped it in here.

What's weird about that is Burks isn't a PG at all. You would think with both Rose and Quickley at his disposal, they wouldn't be patching Burks into that spot.

looking at Saturday's rotation, looks like they start Burks with Fournier, and have the two of them plus Barrett as ballhandlers, with Quickley playing a lot of minutes (he actually played more than Fournier), also Rose is out with an Ankle injury, so the rotation might change when he's back.

That Knicks team has so many shoot-first guys you'd think they were playing in the OK Corral and not the Garden. And so many of them are has-beens: Rose, Walker, Burks. It's like they've been looking for JR Smith ever since they lost him.

I have to think they wish they had Schroder in the rotation rather than Kemba. They've got plenty of shooting, anyway.

Yeah, something needed to give there, also I think they'd like to give Quentin Grimes some run.

Whoever thought this wouldn’t work out? Thibs with a Kemba/Fournier backcourt is like Pete Carril coaching a team in the Rucker League.
Brad did a good job getting something for Kemba.

41% from 3 this season.

Kemba's freelance/float defense must be driving Thibs insane

Does out of the rotation mean he's going to be piling up DNP-CDs or just out of the starting rotation?

I would assume he would say "not starting" if it was simply a bench role. Out of the rotation and talk of tightening that up...seems like DNP are on the way.

I would too, and Kemba was inactive on 11/27. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
It's the Holiday season so I'll avoid the low hanging fruit here
What's that? He gets cut and comes back to Boston?

Looks like he's going to go the way of IT4.

I assume it's going to be on the bench not playing unless there are injuries. ATL game isn't an indicator though, that was a planned night off on a B2B
