Giannis wins the EC player of the month award for March. It's hard to imagine how a player can win the player of the week award 3 times in one month (2nd time in NBA history), but not win player of the month.

Giannis: 33.9 ppg, 12.8 rpg, 4.8 apg, .654 TS%, +5.9/100
Tatum: 32.8 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 4.9 apg, .684 TS%, +20.8/100

The voting must have been officiated by Scott Foster and Tony Brothers.

Any sports award that entails voting is subject to heavy recency bias and Giannis performed so well in the final week+ that pundits were moving him up in their MVP ladders.

Is there a team where he can play in a bubble?

I think he needs to realize he is not a top 2 player on a decent team anymore.
He has missed 20, 28, and 33 games over the last three seasons.

The rumorr originally came from an article by Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, who speculated that GH could be used in a trade with IND for Myles Turner, as CHA really needs a rim protector. CHA would have to add draft capital to make that work (Pritchard was asking for two 1st round picks before Turner got injured in January.)

Fischer also suggested that CHA might consider trading GH and salary matching for RWB to give CHA some payroll flexibility when RWB's contract comes off the books. Now that would be amazing.

He keeps getting older, he's missed an average of 23 games per year (not counting playoffs, which he's missed all or part of for 3 straight years) over the last 4 seasons, and he'll get $61M over the next two years for above average but definitely not all-star level play. His contract is a negative asset right now, especially for a team like the Hornets who aren't a title contender yet.

Given that Turner’s also made of glass I doubt that the Hornets would include much of anything to make that sort of deal work. Using him to clear the decks for the summer of ‘23 would be an interesting twist, though. But it would put them in the lottery next year as Russ seems to be losing it. Unless, of course, they just buy him out and send him packing.

Would anyone here use the "Al Money" and replace him with Gordon? Basically trading Als 36 for Gordons 34yo season?
I get that it would mean having to find another C to add to the TL,Theis trio.
But YCNHTMWings. And if Gordon finally realized that he was 3rd -4th 5th fiddle the band would pretty damn good.

Not sure I would. But its kinda close. And you know....Brad Stevens. Sooo......

No. They’ve found a wonderful mix the only upgrade they can seek out imo is a younger version of Al. A floor spacing big who can credibly guard in switches

I think I’d trade Al for Hayward, provided Stevens could talk to him and make sure he’s okay being #3. Theis becomes TLs backup

I read that more as Hayward's agent telling teams... if you're interested in trading for my guy he's fine getting traded to you, he'll be happy and have no issues.

I wouldn't. A younger healthier version of Hayward... maybe, but honestly they've found a lot of success by having a guy who can kinda stretch the floor while playing good D on opposing bigs, which allows TL to do his thing. With Hayward, you're making TL play C for real, and I think that makes him a much worse defensive player, he's elite as a Giannis style roamer, less so as a traditional big.

Edit- while I wouldn't want him either, the other guy in these rumors (Turner) makes more sense as a stretch 5 who can protect the rim... though even he isn't exactly brining what Al does.

No way. Al's 36 going on 32. Gordon's 34 going on 38. Plus, Ime likes the two-big lineups, so Gordon might not fit in so smoothly.

Hahaha, I think Turner is going to retire a Pacer. Every year he's rumored to be available, and every year Pritchard needs ridiculously high draft picks in return.

I don’t know how it would work under the cap but if they could give Horford a one year extension to lower his number and then somehow trade for Wendell Carter to be his protege, that would be incredible.

Some people on twitter have been talking above Anunoby as the Horford protege is Masai decides that he needs to blow it up this off-season. Not sure if he can guard Bigs as effectively as Al but interesting thought

Why would Orlando do that? He's one of their best players, 22 and signed to one of the most crazy discounts in the league on a declining contract. (14, 13, 12, 11 actually slightly below those in the last 2).

Not sure it would make a ton of sense but Orlando also has young high draft picks at basically every position that were picked by this current regime.

they traded for Carter and signed him, so they obviously like him, but I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility they take Chet in the draft and want to clear out a big so that Bamba, Holmgren, and Jonathan Isaac get more PT.

I think they are done with Isaac and Bamba is an RFA this offseason. If anything my guess is they try to S&T Bamba out, Carter is younger, better and his deal is so good

I agree with you on Bamba but Isaac, I think they have to keep around just due to his contract.
it’s a massive deal so no one will give up anything or value and since this current FO gave him the deal, I think they have a vested interest in making sure he gets as much PT as possible if he’s healthy.

But point taken about Bamba. Again, I don’t think it’s a slam dunk that Orlando would do it but I also don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility. They are so far away from winning anything, who knows how they’ll decide to build.

Charlotte makes Borrego the scapegoat.

He's a good coach, not his fault that:
1. Their max player played like 1 year of games in 2 seasons
2. They haven't had an NBA player at C for like 3-4 years in a row
3. The roster has no defenders on it, just year after year of shitty defending guards.
I dunno. The clips of a disgusted Jordan in the owners box this year have been viral. He clearly wasn’t happy with the effort levels which is one area a coach is held accountable even without top end talent. Then they completely no-show the play-in games with an approach that resembled a January game in OKC.

I wonder how close Borrego and IME are from their SA days? I wouldn't mind him as an asst here if Hardy bolts

Why would Hardy bolt?
ESPN Sources: The Sacramento Kings have secured permission to interview several assistants for their head coaching job, including Golden State's Mike Brown, Brooklyn consultant Steve Clifford, Milwaukee's Darvin Ham and Charles Lee, and Boston's Will Hardy

Thanks. Steve Clifford is becoming a modern-day Gene Shue/Dick Motta.

That's awful. Embiid has literally been worn down to a nub. I was rooting for a Celtics-Sixers ECF.

It's pretty common knowledge at this point that Rambis is tight with the Buss family and Jeannie appears to be utterly clueless, so Rambis has been involved in the day-to-day operations of the franchise. LeBron of course, probably wields the most power in the organization outside of Buss herself.
