Im in love with Hafley. Elite defensive guys WANT to play for him, it’s program altering.
Same here. I was so beaten down with Spaz/Daz that I forgot what it was like to have hope and excitement. Haven't felt this way since Jags and he was obviously a fraud. Hafley certainly isn't. And this is exactly why BC should make its hires from P5 schools. Tons of recruits have mentioned the tOSU connection. Don't give me some MAC head coach, like a Jim Christian, give me an up-and-coming P5 guy who needs an opportunity to spread his wings (no pun intended). Then, when they leave in 4-5 years for bigger things, find the next one. That's our sweet spot. Really excited to see what other transfers we can reel in.

Apparently there is more excellent news coming tomorrow, as well.

Could get used to this.

Any idea what that is? Recruit? Transfer?
This is just me guessing, but recruit seems more likely. I know they’ve been in on some bigger names, and legitimately in, unlike when they would fluke their way onto some top recruits top 5 or 10 in the past.

Come to think of it, Pete Kendall's kid is rumored to be down to BC and Stanford and you have that DT Rooks kid from NJ as well. Either would be a huge add. If there is big news tomorrow, I think it's one of them.

“I play to get two masters when I’m there,” Lars-Woodbey said. “I already have my under grad and plan to get masters in Urban Development and Real Estate. My parents had a big say in the decision as well and they really liked Boston College for me.

“I was comfortable with all my options but I love the fit as well. The plan for me is to be be on campus later this month to start getting acclimated and then I’ll obviously be ready to go for spring practice.

“Football wise, I would love to be one and done," Lars-Woodbey said. "I want to go out and have a great season and give myself a chance to go to the NFL but if I need to stay for two years, I’m at a great place for it and can fulfill all my academic goals too.

"I’m just really excited and can’t wait to play football again. I’m thankful to Florida State for everything and it was tough to leave but at the same time, I had to do what I felt was best for me in the long and short term so I’m excited about where things are at for me now.”

4-star CB recruit Clinton Burton signs with BC.

Boston College landed another highly ranked cornerback as Clinton Burton Jr. (MD) signed with the Eagles. The four star back flipped from Florida to Boston College, and chose the Eagles over basically every big program in the country. In a class full of impressive commitments, Burton may be the cream of the crop. He was recruited by defensive back Aazaar Abdul Rahim, who clean up in the DMV area in this class. Burton Jr was part of SI All American's top 10 cornerbacks in the class.

Other offers: Florida, Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, UNC, and many others

247 Sports had them as having the 39th best recruiting class. Much better than the last few years; and they've done well in the grad & transfer area.

Pete Kendall’s kid, a 4 * OG (naturally), is apparently going to select BC over Stanford. Huge, if true!

#3 OG in the country, and the top recruit, regardless of position, from MA (low bar on the latter)

By all accounts, he's much better than his older brother Pete Jr.

Hopefully BC can go back to being OLU

BC now ranked 32nd nationally and 7th in ACC with Kendall. Really hope BC can hold on to Hafley for at least 4 years. This could become something really special.

Has Jurk going 15th overall, to the Steelers.

Let’s hope this year is as good as it has the potential to be.
Thanks for posting this.

Like a lot of fairly mobile college QBs, Jurk doesn’t have the speed to outrun NFL defensive linemen. He certainly meets the minimum bar for athletic ability, but he’s going to need otherworldly throwing skills to be a first-round pick. As we just saw with Mac Jones, that doesn’t necessarily have to mean raw arm strength; it can also be preternatural accuracy. I didn’t see Jurk that way, but my untrained eye probably isn’t picking up on those fine points — the reason there are combines and pro days is because even professional scouts have a hard time telling.

Will this game be alumni, gillette, or a new BC stadium to-be-built?
Who knows what factors will be in play 10 years from now? ND's played at Alumni (and I'm not counting the no-crowd 2020 game), so has Michigan (Coughlin's first game). But I'd say if the game was a couple years from now, it'd be higher than 50/50 that the game would be at Gillette.

It's going to be at Alumni. When was the last time BC played a home game off-campus other than Fenway (which has a lower seating capacity than Alumini)?

And as a general statement, start new threads, goddammit. We're into 2021.

Exactly. Any BC fan that says otherwise does not have a rational view on where BC sits in the college football landscape. I'm more than happy to see him go up and away (up being the key word) in a few years.

Jurk may not be NFL athlete QB fast, but hes a much more natural athlete than say Mac Jones. I suspect in a straight foot race, they have similar speed, but jurk is much more natural running with the ball (and has the added benefit of being significantly bigger). There are plenty of effective QB scramblers who are not elite or even above average runners.

That said, his upside seems more like a day two tools guy unless he stays for a 5th year of schools.

BC requiring full vaccination for 12+ to attend sports on campus. Under 12 need to be masked
More details.

https://bceagles.com/news/2021/8/27/boston-college-athletics-announces-updated-vaccination-requirements

Attendees (12) twelve years of age and older will be required to present proof of being at least two weeks past receiving a second dose in a two-dose vaccine series (Pfizer or Moderna, or other World Health Organization-approved vaccines), or a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. A CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card or a photocopy or mobile photo of the card is acceptable. For home football games, guests will need to present proof at one of a dozen Welcome Tents adjacent around Alumni Stadium or at designated parking areas. Once proof is verified, guests will receive a non-transferable wristband for entrance into the stadium.

For those guests who are unvaccinated or who cannot provide proof of full vaccination, documentation of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within three days of the event will be required. A test result must be in the form of written medical documentation (paper or electronic copy) and the documentation must include: test result, type of test, entity issuing the result, and the specimen collection date.

Proof of full vaccination and/or documentation of a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of the event will also require the presentation of a valid driver's license or government-issued form of identification, such as a passport.
Sounds like the protocols are still evolving, and an app-based verification system is in the works, so you’ll want to check for the latest info before heading to a game. I’m particularly interested how the photo ID requirement works for younger fans. (My 15-year old has a passport, but he’s probably in the minority.)

Schedule sets up perfect. This game was a glorified scrimmage with plenty to work/improve upon. Next week slight step up with UMass and then Temple and Missouri. Hard to get a read on the run game given that each was limited in touches.

Zay is the real deal.

The fact that BC didn’t blow Colgate off the ball with legit NFL talent all over the line is a troubling warning sign. We’ll see if they progress but Levy is not a good talent and we can’t afford more OL run blocking underperformance.

Just like the HC game in 2018, playing a team at 2 or 3 levels below you coming off a bad season resulting in the coach getting fired. I wouldn't read much into the performance. If you see that sort of thing in Amherst, then worry.
