Current standings (order determined by SOS if there is tie):

1. Giants 0-5
2. Falcons 0-5
3. Jets 0-5
4. Redskins 1-4
5. Jaguars 1-4
6. Dolphins 1-4 (from Texans - lol BoB)
7. Chargers 1-3
8. Lions 1-3
9. Broncos 1-3
10. Vikings 1-3

The Giants and Jets have young QBs but neither is looking that promising so Lawrence would be a no brainer. The Falcons have Matty Ice but he’s getting up there in years. Problem is he just signed a big extension so they’d have to take a huge cap hit to trade him. But if you’re getting Lawrence, you basically have to start him right away given his talent level.

The Jets don’t have to win. Anything can happen in the NFL. Pats might lose on purpose to us if it doesn’t affect their seeding and it gets us to lose #1 pick.

Texans, Falcons, Lions, Vikings, and Chargers all have way too much talent to finish with worse records than the other bottom 10 teams. My gut is Smith and Minshew do enough to take their respective teams out of the running, which leaves both New York teams and Denver. I'm not convinced Denver is that bad with Lock. And as far as the Giants go, the NFC East has many more wins for the taking than the AFC East (aside: wow!). A lot can happen still, but the Jets are clear front runners - the record is bad, but the roster is worse and that can't be said for the bulk of the cellar dwellers.

Jets and Giants are the last two teams I want Lawrence playing for—yet, here we are.
I'm all for him going to the Jets. I don't think they're suddenly fixed by a guy like Lawrence.

Just hope Miami doesn't somehow land with the pick as they can trade that off for a massive bounty, securing an actual team around Tua.

Giants fan here. I like Daniel Jones and think if we ever put a good offensive line in front if him he could be very good.
If the right offer came along I'd have no problem trading down with a team like Jacksonville in the top 5 (the giants would never make a trade with the jets regarding lawrence)
What would a sufficient offer for a guy like lawrence be? Two 1st rounders and two 2nd rounders? More?

You don’t pass up Lawrence. He might be the best QB prospect since Peyton. If Giants get #1, you take Lawrence and trade Jones. He hasn’t bombed like a Rosen so you may still decent value for him.

Jones hasn't bombed like Rosen but I'd still be shocked if he got anything of substance in a trade. Maybe a third round pick or something. He was drafted way too high, and hasn't really shown any reason to believe he'll ever be better than average. Which I guess is still a lot better than Rosen who can't even start on bad teams.

I would guess a 2nd and maybe mid round pick. Giants would not get a 1st for him anymore. But the return doesn’t even really matter. If you get Lawrence, you could lose Jones for nothing and still be much, much better off than you are right now.

Actually, I was thinking more that I really like Lawrence and it would be cruel for him to have to play for the Jets.

I assume you’re right but will but on my Green tinted glasses. Think we have an extra 1,3,5 next year and extra 1 year after. Projected to have most cap space entering next year.

Curious who is willing to coach this.

It will be so Jets if they end up with the worst record yet Trevor Lawrence pulls a Peyton Manning and returns for his senior year at Clemson.

True. Although Lawrence would be nuts to do that to waste a year of earning potential in order to go to a different dumpster fire organization a year later.

Which could end up being the Jets anyway.
Now that would be funny. I also think that if Jets get Lawrence, the job would start to attract far more qualified candidates. The ownership will always be an issue but tons are coaches would hook themselves up to the Lawrence train.

This has Bill Parcells written all over it! But I think the Tuna is finally truly retired.

Will the Jets leave all this draft and cap capital in the hands of Joe Douglas or will they clean house? If the latter, will they give it all to an unproven up-and-comer like Denver did with JMcD or will they find a competent GM and let him pick a coach? Is there someone in the KC front office who would be a good match to come over as a complement to Bienemy?

If the Jets want to draft a QB I would recommend Eric Bieniemy or Brian Daboll as a head coach. Both have done great jobs as OCs and worked with young QBs.
