Damn shame that Zalatoris didn't do much on 18.

1,041 holes Xander hasn't had a triple in a major. Until then. That is just incredible.

is Zalatoris gonna be on the Ryder Cup team?
I would say he added a big data point to his case this weekend . Be interesting to see if he rides the momentum of this to some wins the rest of this season. And outstanding job by Matsuyama. Never let the small hiccups turn into disasters. Calm, focused, excellent golf. And a well deserved win.

That was quite the air traffic control job Nantz had to pull off in the post-game

That was a lot of suboptimal shots on Sunday to win. But the short/scramble game was pretty darned good, as were two lucky breaks. Congrats to Hideki and Japan.

And dear Will, please eat a burger.

Not sure if this is appropriate or not, but here goes:
My father in law is Japanese and an avid golfer and of course is over the moon right now. His birthday is in 3 weeks and I am thinking to get him some sort of commemorative item as a gift.
Can anyone point me in the direction of some swag that might not be available internationally?

I know this is a long shot, but check eBay. I once got something that I treasure to this day on offer by someone who picked up an item at a golf major and put it on Ebay.

I thought it was completely irresponsible by CBS not to mention any of the anti-Asian violence and sentiment in this country (in Georgia!!) and appropriately frame the context of Matsuyama's win. I'm not shocked but it was disappointing and a great miss by them.

Zalatoris is now 23rd after The Masters. Top 12:

DJ
Bryson
JT
Morikawa
Brooks
Xander
Reed
Finau
Berger
Webb
Spieth
Billy Ho

13-15 is Cantlay, English and Scheffler.

I love Will Z but I think that's going to be a tough mountain to climb before September. I think 10 spots are locked in. Horschel can be overtaken and I'm not enthused by Webb's recent form so maybe that one could also be up for grabs. If I was in charge, barring injury or a really bad run of play, I would take Cantlay over either of them. That really only leaves 1 spot open. Unless Brooks pulls out with injury, but he's got 5 months to get it together.

I think there's only 6 automatic qualifiers with the new rules. So 6 automatics and 6 captain picks. I think the 8 highlighted guys are locks and Finau is close to a lock. So we'll say 9 spots spoken for at the moment. If Zalatoris continues his current play you can certainly make a case for him over any of the remaining guys depending on their form for the rest of the season. Reed is another wild card if he doesn't automatically qualify, given he's not a very popular locker room guy. So we could potentially be talking about 4 open spots at the moment if the automatic qualifiers convince Stricker to leave Reed out.

I think Webb will be fine. He had a good master's and is moving on to Harbor Town where he won last year and I expect him to play well defending. I wonder if the PGA will pair Webb and Will the two Wake guys together this week in Hilton Head.

Yeah Idk if having an actual crazy person on the Ryder Cup team would blow up the locker room or intimidate the euros

Webb is pretty consistent and he's chill. I think he would be a great add for the team. And his overall Ryder record is respectable, as he's outperformed the team the three times he's played.
