Part of my issue with Orsillo is that I really don’t like the sound of his voice. It sounds fake and put on .. a very radio announcer voice. I generally don’t get all worked up about what PBP guys say or don’t say. It’s HOW they say it .. their tone and volume rising or lowering with the ebbs and flows of the game. You notice it more with hockey announcers as they have to talk non stop. O’Brien is good at that .. what he actually says is not too important to me.
I feel like this is why O'Brien was much more liked as the radio guy (where he has to talk more to describe what's going on) than the TV guy.

Funny enough but I used to really enjoy O'Brien on the radio. His "DAVID ORTIZ, DAVID ORTIZ, DAVID ORTIZ" home run call was iconic. I think he really struggles to mesh with everybody outside of Castig whereas Orsillo seems to mesh nicely with whomever he's paired with. I don't pine for the days of Orsillo, but I much prefer him to O'Brien.

O’Brien is just kind of average in my mind. As far as Sox TV announcers go I’d rate them Ned Martin, Sean McDonough, Dick Stockton (of Pudge fame) and everyone else.

(which is to say I’m old)

As bad as the constant chant/chop shit is, turning out the lights to do it while a reliever for the visitors enters the field is even more gross.

Will the Brewers save their season while wearing their Webelos uniforms?

If they do, will they wear them every game until they lose, like the Red Sox did with the awful marathon uniforms?

I can't keep the Ashbys and the Beneses straight. There used to be Andy and Alan Benes, who were brothers. There also used to be Andy and Alan Ashby, who were no relation. When the Braves radio guys pointed out that Aaron Ashby is Andy's nephew, I was like, "Well, then wouldn't that also make him the nephew of Alan Ashhhh... wait, that doesn't work".

The cradle of the game.
Not to get ahead of things, but my 2 favorite teams are the Sox and whoever plays the winner of LAD and SFG. So if a well-rested ATL has a better shot at doing that than MIL having come off a 5 game series, my other favorite team is the Braves.

I know a bunch of you all think Don Orsillo is the next Curt Gowdy and all, but his voice sounds like it’s dropped nearly an octave since he left the Sox.

I can’t believe Bob Uecker is still announcing, or even alive. Wikipedia says he’s 87, so he joins Sterling, Scully, Al Michaels and many others who are so beloved they can do that grind endlessly with varying degrees of quality.

I was just listening to him on the radio and he sounds pretty good. Announces alone. Still very animated.

Francoeur is much better on these national broadcasts than he is on the local Braves games. But then he doesn't have to deal with the idiocy of Chip Caray on these.

Skip was decent. He had a pretty dry sense of humor. His dad I couldn't listen to.
Of the three, Skip was definitely valedictorian of the summer school class.
I remember moving to Chicago and people telling me about the legendary Harry Caray. Other than some funny drunk quotes(Hey, my 6 favorite friends just arrived and they're all named Bud") he was horrible.

Freddie Freeman is one of the great mensches of baseball; not a Braves fan per se but happy for him right now.

There was once a time where I couldn't understand why the Braves signed Freddie to an extension but not Jason Heyward. I think I may have been wrong.

What a killer AB that was. If you're going to bunt in a big spot you better get it on the ground. Huge fail by Mil
