Scoring Spreadsheet

The time to draft is upon us. Here are the rules of the draft. I'll follow this post up with the draft order and then a post that outlines the scoring, league rules, and money payouts. 1st person can pick anytime before Monday morning, but we won't start the timer until Monday at 9am ET.

1) This will be serpentine style. If anyone is unfamiliar with that, it means in the even numbered rounds we go reverse order. So in round one we go 1-20, round two we go 20-1, round three is 1-20 and so forth.

2) I will post the draft order in the 2nd post.

3) We’ll give each person 24 hours to make their pick. As best I can, I will notify someone when they are on the clock via PM, e-mail or text. I encourage everyone to PM me their preferred method of contact. If after 12 hours nobody has made their pick, I’ll send them another PM/Text. If after 24 hours they miss their pick, we will give them the highest available ranked golfer according to the World Golf Rankings ( http://www.owgr.com/ranking ). After you make your pick, feel free to tag who is picking next in your post.

4) Please BOLD AND CAPS your pick. This is going to be fun, and thought process on the pick, people busting balls, etc… is all very encouraged. So there is no confusion, BOLD AND CAPS your pick so we know. I've asked TFP to help me out with this. If you're mobile and can't BOLD your selection, mention it in the post and we'll fix it.

5) I’ll do my best to update the team lists in the post #2. This is another thing I'll get help from TFP with. Before you make your pick, please check out who everyone has. Double check by going through the thread. It will start off easy, but get very difficult once we get to round 3 or 4. Sometimes, I won’t be available to update the teams as quick as the picks are coming in. If you pick someone that has already been picked, it is up to you to change your pick . Once you BOLD AND CAPS your pick, that gives the next person permission to pick their player. You will change your pick at any time, but we won’t wait to keep the draft going so you’d be only screwing yourself.

6) We will have 2 Add/Drop periods this year. The first add drop will be after the WGC Match Play and the second add drop will be after the Canadian Open. Both will take effect immediately. So basically, the first add drop will happen after the first third of the season, and the second one after two thirds of the season. Majors wise, your original drafted team will only the The Players. Then after the first add drop we'll have the Masters and the PGA Championship. Finally, after the second add drop you'll get the US Open and British Open.

7)The season will end at the BMW Championship. We'll also have a $50 pay out for whoever wins the Tour Championship (The Fedex Cup champion).

8) There is an extra $25 in the pool. That will be awarded to the member who drafted the golfer that misses the most cuts.

9) @Deathofthebambino has the option of taking Rob Oppenheim with his last pick, if he so chooses.

Can’t wait for him to break his winning streak this year because I’m drafting him.

It might be explained somewhere else, but what are the rules on how add drop works, is it just reverse order of standings at the time?

Yep - we start a thread and it goes in reverse standings order. People dropped are not eligible to be added by others in that period. People dropped in the 1st period are eligible to be added by everyone in the 2nd period.

I had a 0% chance of taking Bryson. I don't want to vote for him and having him on my fantasy team would make me hate myself. So I pick:

RORY MCILROY

edit - I do not get notifications when I am tagged, even tho I have that turned on. I am going to PM the person after me, once I pick, just in case that person has the same issue. If people want to PM me when it's my turn, that would be cool. It would require PMing only two people, depending on which way the draft is snaking.

I survived a year with Patrick Reed on my team, I'll survive this asshole.

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU

My team's official mascot will be fire ants. (And yes, we will expect relief.)

@heavyde050 - you're up. Sending PM as well.

So this is a really tough choice for me. I kind of want to go with the super young guy (don't want to give away his name), but I will stick with the slightly less young guy (with more of a resume).
JON RAHM

Will PM next. @Zomp you are up.

Ugh.

I was really hoping one of the first 5 fell to me. I know it who Heavyde is referring to but I can’t make myself pass up BROOKS KOEPKA.

I just hope he’s back and healthy. A few top 10s recently, including one at the masters, has me hopeful.

@BigMike is up.

Yeah I don’t know. I tagged bigmike and PM’d him. He hasn’t been on since 2pm yesterday but when I PM’d him he was on the board.

Typically we don’t do the 24 hour rule in the first round because maybe not everyone sees the draft thread but short of texting him (I don’t have his number) I’m not sure what else to do.

GM RULING

Alright I'm going to give @BigMike til tonight at 10pm to make his pick. If not, he gets the next golfer in the world rankings (Webb Simpson).

We have plenty of time to complete the draft, and he hasn't posted in this thread or the pre-draft thread so I could see how he doesn't know about it. But...man...

This one may be a bit of a stretch in the 8 spot, with probably 4 or 5 safer picks out there, but I am going with MATTHEW WOLFF.

So I'm going to allow this because Lupe was picking Wolff no matter what. I have the conversation in PM and @TFP does as well.

Glad everything is okay @BigMike .... but pay more attention lol

Putter would be my concern with Morikawa. He was 128th in SG putting last year and is 257 so far this season (2021). His ball striking is insane though so you can get away with a shaky putter when you're flag high 15-20 feet away every damned hole.

Yeah, that is why I went Rahm. But I love the upside of Morikawa - if he figures out putting, he could put up some insane scores.
