Gonzaga in talks to join ... the Big 12?

Gonzaga's athletic director met in person with the Big 12 commissioner last week as part of broader discussions about the Zags joining the Big 12, sources told ESPN. The discussions are part of the possibility of a seismic move of the basketball powerhouse leaving the West Coast Conference for a power conference.

Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark met with Gonzaga athletic director Chris Standiford at the Hyatt in Frisco, Texas, while the Zags were in the Dallas area to play Tennessee in a scrimmage, according to sources.

Bumping - first games tonight. Some top 10 team this week will lose to a school you didn’t know existed. College basketball is back!

Woo Pig! Biggest expectations on the Hogs since the 1995 team when all five starters returned from the title-winning team. Muss has brought in some serious talent, and it's got us all freaking out a bit. Will be an amazing year regardless, I just hope they're able to live up to the hype!

I watched the Texas vs pig scrimmage. Texas won by like 35 and it wasn’t that close. Thus, Texas is running the table on its way to a national title in Beard Year 2.

(I kids but Texas did demolish Arkansas who looked to have given up after halftime. It was a bit weird but scrimmages are scrimmages)

If anyone here can play passable PG and has eligibility remaining, Villanova will be taking walk-ons this week.
Your post does raise a serious question: if someone leaves a school in the first semester, is he eligible for the second...or does one have to wait for the next season?

Louisville lost a preseason game to a D-2 opponent. They also squeaked by another D-2 school in the preseason.

Then began the season 0-3 losing each by a single point.

Texas up 90-69 over #2 Gonzaga with 2:59 left. It’s been an asskicking since 4 or so mins into the game. Timme has like 2 points and 45 turnovers.

He couldn't figure out Brock Fucking Cunningham at all. Awesome game. Can't remember the last time Texas beat this highly rated of a non-conference opponent.

Woo Pig. Hogs gonna be an incredibly fun team this year, the likes of which we haven't seen since the Corliss days. Muss collecting 5* recruits like he's Nick Saban.

Crazy sad story out of New Mexico involving NM State”s Mike Peake. UNM student dead, Peak in hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Peake was lured to UNM’s campus to jump him - Peake, the deed man and another UNM student were in a fight during the UNM-NM State football game last month. Peake was assaulted, then shot at. Peake pulled a gun out of his pants and shot back, killing the male student.

Trevon Brazile caught a pass even with the top of the box for a slam in the first that was amazing.
Brazile’s physicals are made for the NBA. He’s an auto-1st rounder on upside alone once he grows into his body and learns how to play the game.

Nick Smith, Jr. still on the bench as well, their supposed best new player. Can't wait to see him and Black be able to run it together.

UVA 7-0 with wins over Baylor, Illinois and Michigan. Ranked #3 and a big showdown with #1 Houston coming up in 2 weeks. Hoos are back.

It's so refreshing to see a hot crowd for a Texas basketball game. I couldn't believe how dead the Erwin Center was when I moved here. I really think it's going to be transformational for the program.

Hogs beat San Jose State at home 99-58. Nick Smith has played in the last two games. Once Musselman gets the rotations figured out this team is going to be very good.

Siena at Georgetown about 10 minutes from game time. Free tickets for anyone from DC.
It’s ridiculous that Georgetown plays at the Capitol One Arena, which is miles from campus, but, in their defense, there was a shooting at Metro Center during the evening rush hour last night and Metro shut down.

Isn't there some moderate-sized arena available now in DC? Georgetown's not ready for a return to ancient McDonough Arena, but playing at a huge place is similar to BC back in the day playing at Boston Garden. The team sucked with the exception of Dana Barros and no one went.

Well we're a baseball and volleyball school that's becoming one!
I've always said UT was a swimming school:

Swimming and diving

Texas has won fifteen national titles in men's swimming and diving (1981, 1988–1991, 1996, 2000–2002, 2010, 2015–18, 2021) and nine in women's swimming and diving (1981–82, 1984–88, 1990–91), making swimming and diving the most successful Texas athletics program by far, based on number of national titles.

National Championships (15):

1981, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2010, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021

Women's championships

National Championships (9):

1981, 1982, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1990, 1991

There is, but it’s even further from Georgetown’s campus.

Not sure what happened to Caleb Love at UNC this year. He’s shooting 26% from three, just airballed a 3 that missed by a good 2 feet then pulled up in the lane for an open 10-footer……and shot it 8 feet.

Bama upsets Houston on the road. Texas will be number one on Monday.
Texas lost to Illinois on Tuesday so I doubt they're going to #1. The remaining undefeateds who were already top 5 are Purdue, UConn, and Virginia. I'm guessing Purdue gets #1 on Monday (I'll say UConn #2 to not be a total homer), and I think Bama deserves to jump to #5 after this game but we'll see.
