There
The playoffs are underway here as well.

Central League: #3 seed Hanshin surprisingly took 2 of 3 from the Baystars in the 1st round to move through to the CLCS and face the Swallows. Being the #1 seed, the Swallows have home field for the entire CLCS, *and* start the series with a 1-0 lead. I went last night to the opener to see the Swallows start their title defense, and they handled Hanshin easily, with Jose Osuna hitting a 3-run laser shot in the first inning, Domingo Santana adding a 2-run bomb later, and Ogawa pitching 6.2 IP of 1-run ball. A comfortable 7-1 W to give the defending champs a 2-0 lead in the CLCS.

Pacific League: it's Softbank vs Orix in the PLCS. Orix got the 1-seed on the final day of the regular season, so like the Swallows in the CL, are enjoying homefield and a 1-0 series lead. And they were well rested so had their ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the hill, who went ahead and did very Yamamoto things: 8 IP, 5 H, 0 BB, 10 K, 0 ER. Orix won 5-0, and are now up 2-0 in the series. You'll see Yamamoto in MLB probably not in 2023 but likely in 2024, is my guess. Here are his 10 Ks from last night:
