Hafley returning is about the ad not having power at the University and not wanting to eat the contract. There's no way to recruit bringing back the same feckless coaching staff and a team that's been humiliated in prime time every time they've played this season.

Football just isn’t a priority for this school and it shows. They should honestly just shut it down. They can’t compete.

How many of these does one need in a season to actually be fired?
At BC, you get 4 years minimum as long as you don’t do anything illegal. We operate much differently than basically everybody else. In related news, we haven’t been relevant in over a decade.

Anyone have any idea what happened to Pyne, the highly touted offensive lineman from Milford (or thereabouts)? Saw him dressed for a game, do not believe he's seen the field even once this season. Already had a redshirt year so nothing's getting gained in that regard.

Given their OL sucks, unless he's injured, I'd think at this point he's in the "can't play" category.

No idea what happened but rumored to be hitting the portal so unlikely to ever play for BC.

Jeff Hafley needs to be canned tomorrow. It won’t happen for a multitude of reasons but just a completely unforgivable season.

You are correct, sir. Never played a down in a season where his team was hurting for offensive linemen, doesn't bode well for playing at BC's level elsewhere. His relatives have played for Brown & Lafayette (also one at VA Tech) might be more his speed.

Neither team distinguished themselves in the fracas that followed the game. Was happy that Flowers took his helmet off and walked away. Think he's going to be at least a better-than-average pro.

Zay Flowers was literally the only reason I paid attention this year. Next year, there is no reason to pay attention. The program is simply toast.

Agree. I suspect at least a couple Cuse players will be suspended. Surprised I havent heard anything from Boston media about Donovan Ezeiruaku, who took a swing at a player in the midst of it

You’d have to remind Boston media about the existence of BC sports first. Ezeruaku deserves to be punished for the punch. That was chickenshit.

You'd have to question the mental capacity of the Syracuse player who, after things had calmed down, decided to plant the school flag on the Alumni turf, thereby sparking another outbreak.

I actually think it’s kind of humorous. Two completely irrelevant NE football schools with proud histories going at it. No idea why that guy would be so fired up about beating a terrible 3-9 BC team.

John McNulty should be sued for destruction of future earnings potential in the case of Phil.

It's a fair point the line is terrible but the play calling all year never adapted to that line. Slow moving crap from the 1990s Dana bible offense all year. No creativity to adapt.

Whoever thought they could win with the offensive line they put out there is the real culprit.
I think the issue here was lack of preparedness. From what I understand they were blindsided by Vrabel declaring for the draft and the Mahogoney injury was brutal. They just didn't have the depth to overcome these misteps/bad luck. There is no reason that a BC program should be that bad on the offensive line. I think the prior year's issues were due to the offensive scheme and the offensive line. While I appreciate the fact that the offensive schme was problematic this year, you should never ever be that bad in the run game. It's one thing to be ineffective at times, this year was historically bad.

I would ask if there is a problem at the OL Coaching level given how poorly this BC performed in the run game.

Some good news for a change, Christian Mahogany is coming back. Needless to say they desperately need him on the OL.
They also snagged a grad transfer WR from UCF, Ryan O'Keefe. Similar build to Zay Flowers but not as good of course, but he did have 73 catches this year and 84 last year. So he should help fill that void a little bit. Obviously those 2 alone won't solve all their problems, but hopefully it's a couple of steps in the right direction.

Not relevant to this year but Luke Kuechly was elected to the College Football HOF today. He might be an interesting debate for NFL HOF in a few years.

If Calvin Johnson can get in, Kuechly absolutely deserves HOF.

Any BC football fans interested in their history might want to take a look at the NESN show on Lou Montgomery. Different times, for sure.

another reason why FSU and Clemson despise being stuck in the ACC ...so many irrelevant teams, lead by BC ...irrelevant teams bring zero $$ to the coffer....

You have to try really hard to be a worse coach than Steve Addazio but here we are. Hafley is such a terrible head coach and he and his players are incredibly soft.

Do they get any credit for the nice comeback to get it to overtime?I thought they were dead at 21-7.

However much credit they get, is more than made up with the fact they were down 21-7 to northern Maction, at home. Get your guys ready to play, Jesus f’ing Flutie, Hafley.

Nope. F this entire program. I hope your Huskies beat them again. Time to flush the toilet in Chestnut Hill once again.

Fwiw, Castellanos was entertaining to watch. Not sure that’s going to show up to help their record but he was at least exciting at points. Otherwise, very bad effort against an opponent they should handle; going to be a long season.

Dumb defensive penalties when one is a defensive coach is not good. Hafley just doesn’t seem up for job. I wouldn’t mind BC giving Chesney, coach of Holy Cross, a shot.

Bummer we have to start over again.

But if we had a competent president and athletic department he would have been gone after the "looked in their eyes" nonsense from last year.

To quote Yellowstone Jeff hafley is the embodiment of a soft lay.

The show I think of when I think of Hafley is Curb Your Enthusiasm. Ever see Hafley and Mocha Joe in the same room?
