Was this him speculating or was he reporting that there were discussions between BoB and Belichick?BoB coming back to the Pats to replace him as offensive coordinator
Schefter floated it as well which means it’s probably something that could happen. Was this him speculating or was he reporting that there were discussions between BoB and Belichick?
He always frames these things as “things he is hearing” so who knows. It is being talked about somewhere but it may just be rank speculation from whoever is talking about it.Was this him speculating or was he reporting that there were discussions between BoB and Belichick?
And him and Mac have worked together at Bama. When BOB arrived, Mac got him up to speed with the playbook. Not only can BOB run the Patriots offense, he can add concepts from the Alabama offense which Mac already knows.
Yup. It’s a natural fit.And him and Mac have worked together at Bama. When BOB arrived, Mac got him up to speed with the playbook.
https://www.profootballnetwork.com/sources-josh-mcdaniels-all-in-and-so-are-the-las-vegas-raiders-on-mcdaniels-dave-ziegler-partnership/McDaniels informed the Raiders that he wouldn’t accept their interview request unless he was being offered the job, per sources. And the Raiders told McDaniels that if and when he was offered the position, he needed to be prepared to accept. Sources emphasized that all parties are on the same page, including McDaniels, Ziegler, Raiders owner Mark Davis, and team president Dan Ventrelle.
Maybe not normal, but at the top of a lot of industries where people are well known, candidates will ask for confirmation that they are the only candidate under consideration before accepting an interview. This is especially true if the interview is likely to become public and/or known to their current employer. Is that normal? To not accept an interview unless you are being offered the job? Kind of suggests the interviews are just a mere formality.
After his little footsie game with Indy a few years ago, I'd guess "normal" is not part of a McDaniels job offer situation. Is that normal? To not accept an interview unless you are being offered the job? Kind of suggests the interviews are just a mere formality.
Dom Capers 2008I was having this discussion with a friend last night and we didn't know. When was the last time they hired someone outside the organization (not Schiano and not hired back) for a non-entry-level position?
Thanks I knew it had been a while but couldn't come up with a nameDom Capers 2008
Dave DeGuglielmo in 2014. With him, Dean Pees, and Dom Capers, the list of outside hires is eerily similar to the list of coaches Belichick has let go.I was having this discussion with a friend last night and we didn't know. The "non-entry-level position" clause here is excluding a lot of guys who I think fit the bill, because they'll often bring guys in as generic "assistants" before promoting them. For instance, Brendan Daly joined in 2014 as a "defensive assistant," but he had already spent five years as an NFL positional coach (DL), which he moved into the next year. Bret Bielema joined in 2018 as a "consultant" after a decade as a college head coach. Jedd Fisch joined last year as an assistant QB coach but he'd previously worked as high as offensive coordinator.I was having this discussion with a friend last night and we didn't know. Not saying it's right or wrong but to me this seems very anti-Theo who wanted many different points of view. This seems more like being able to mold people into 1 point of view. The "non-entry-level position" clause here is excluding a lot of guys who I think fit the bill, because they'll often bring guys in as generic "assistants" before promoting them. Those guys are all very experienced. They'll also bring in guys who have more like 5-6 years experience, such as Mick Lombardi (who had technically been a scouting assistant much earlier) and Bo Hardegree. And it's also worth noting that even some guys who hadn't had NFL jobs before had extensive college experience. Joe Judge and Nick Caley put in almost a decade coaching in college before joining NE. Carmen Bricillo had nearly 15 years in a variety of NCAA coaching roles.
Hope it happens.
I’ve been throwing cold water on a lot of the rumors - mostly because, outside of the Raiders, they tended to be absurd. But this feels very different.
If Rodgers does move on from GB, that division is .... WIDE OPENI’ve been throwing cold water on a lot of the rumors - mostly because, outside of the Raiders, they tended to be absurd. But this feels very different.
It’s less about the players - the Vikings have a good base, but I don’t believe in Kirk Cousins - and more about the fact that the new GM has worked with/likes Harbaugh, and seems willing to give him lots of running room.
This is the only interview Harbaugh has agreed to since he came to Michigan. If the Vikings want him/meet his price, I think he makes the move.
It is. And I know that people here don’t think much of him, but Harbaugh will get the most out of that team.If Rodgers does move on from GB, that division is .... WIDE OPEN

Derek Carr is 30, and already has 8 years under his belt. Mac Jones, as a 23 year old rookie, just put up a statistically comparable season to Carr. I mean, Jones may ALREADY be comparable to Carr. To say Carr will be better for the forseeable future? I'd bet against that.Derek Carr is going to go off under Josh. Good for both of them, I'd rather be riding Carr for the foreseeable future than Mac.
Maybe the NFL game has passed him by (although they did finally start opening it up at Michigan), but he won at a .695 clip with the Niners and went to three CGs and a Super Bowl with a franchise that sucked for eight years before and four years after him. He's certainly shown he can maximize talent at this level. It is. And I know that people here don’t think much of him, but Harbaugh will get the most out of that team.
Adam's not having the best weekend for clarityWhat’s with the word “former” there. Did I miss something? Or is time a flat circle?
Of course, Josh does have a history ...It’s Brady who gets the overturns, not the Raiders. So you should expect this news to stand.
