Speaking of Harbaugh's, should John be on the hot seat? It's been 9 years since he won the Super Bowl. He has 5 playoff DNQ's in those 9 seasons and 1 playoff win, in the Wild Card round in 2013.
Hey now, he's got two wins (2014 and 2020 WCs). Trust me, nobody hates him more than I do but they were on their millionth string CBs by the end and Lamar missed most of their losing streak. He's not going anywhere.

So Flores becomes the 2nd former Belichick assistant in Miami to be done in by the GM picking the wrong QB.

Firing Flores seems stupid, but the knee-jerk "racial optics" posts seem odd considering that Grier is the GM.

Dolphins PR team working OT to leak this out quickly after firing a black coach too soon.
I don't really think this is fair -- if reporting is to be believed, Ross felt like he had to choose between the black head coach and the black general manager / Samoan quarterback. I'm inclined to think he made the wrong choice, but I don't see how assuming the choice was driven by race is reasonable.

Eh you've got company when it comes to Ravens/Harbaugh hate.

Anyway good luck. Your team is a lot less despicable now that Burfict and Jones are no longer around. :)

I don't think the firing is racially motivated but I don't think it's a coincidence, strictly from a PR perspective, that one of the first names connected to the job is another black coach. Can't blame the Dolphins' alone for the underrepresentation of black head coaches in the league but I'm sure they know it's a tough look any time you fire one of the few—and one who has had some success.

edited to account for other names being thrown around—I had only seen Harbaugh mentioned as not being a candidate.

Not sure why people think Flores would come back to NE. He didn't flame out and is immediately a hot candidate for another head coaching job. Also, Bill's kid is the defacto DC, there's no chance Bill would bring Flores back and hand the defense over to him.

McDaniels and Patricia came back but with their tail between their legs after failing elsewhere.

Yeah Harbaugh is still a top 5 coach to me. If BB retired next week he’d probably be my #1 choice, asshole that he is. BB is an asshole too.

Re McDaniels, he had another job in between as the Rams OC. After they fired him he returned to NE.

Edit despite what BB and TB12 have taught us, winning Super Bowls is really hard.

It's not the first name connected. Harbaugh was first. And a quick scan of the internet will show other names have been brought up as well

I was rooting for the Steelers yesterday (especially once it became apparent the Colts were going to lose) like they were my own team. Words cannot describe my contempt for the Ravens and their fanbase.

I know the Dolphins lossed both games, but if there's any opportunity to bring in Flores as a consultant this week (a la Josh Daniels a few years ago) to game plan against the Bills. That would be fantastic.
Or permanently?

Maybe Co-DC's?

Or does he want another HC job and this may put Josh on edge that it's not worth the risk?

And I was ready to root for a Steelers loss if the Colts had done their job. Now those bastards have a higher pick and a last place schedule.

Looking at the time stamps of this Tweet with the Gettleman news. It seems like Anderson got his info prior to the Gettleman news. The new GM can’t possibly keep Judge.
"her"

And they can keep Judge if Mara makes that a requirement for getting the job

It is no shock that Gettleman is gone, and if the Giants wanted to let the GM pick the coach then they would’ve fired Judge today.

The Broncos haven't had a head coach with a primary background on offense since Kubiak. The biggest weakness is quarterback. If they go defense-first against, they'd better be getting a god OC

Imagine going into an interview for the Giants GM job. One the one hand, it's a dream job in that there are less than 3 dozen of them in the world.
On the other.... you have to keep a head coach who has been embarrassingly bad on and off the field who will likely screw up any personnel you give him, and your owner's #1 concern is making tough rules to ensure that opponents don't dance after they humiliate you.

The day is young. Gettleman isn’t even off the highway yet. I’d give it until 7pm but it’s a silly assertion from an above post that keeping Judge would be a requirement for the job. Imo of course.

Wait, what? The Dolphins fired Brian Flores?! My God, the Dolphins are more stupid and clownish than even I thought. What a bunch of morons. Brian Flores was and is going to be an even better HC. He was the only thing that was going to rescue the Dolphins, and now they have fired him. I can only hope that maybe he will come back to the Patriots as D Coordinator for a year or two before he gets that next head coaching job. The Dolphins fired him? What a collection of morons. They will get what they deserve, those pathetic asshats.

LOL. maybe they'll change their mind, but Mara seems to have been consistent for weeks in his leaks that Judge gets another year. Now, a GM candidate COULD change their mind, but just the fact that they're going into interviews with keeping Judge as an option tells me that ownership sucks

We might have lost the skirmish yesterday, but it feels like we've won the battle with Flores' firing. I was cursing the tv at times that Flores had to go to our division and he'll be a pain in the neck every time we play them for the next 10 years. Absolutely delighted the Fins were this stupid. If Flores becomes an HC again, please let it be in the NFC.

It's kind of funny that so many assistants have been flameouts as HC. Josh, Flores, BOB etc. Parcells tree has had more HC success (BB, Payton)

One thing I'll say.... some of those guys weren't bad coaches. BOB was a legitimately good NFL coach, he was a TERRIBLE personnel guy. Josh was a mixed bag (also bad at personnel) but the guy went to and won a playoff game with Tim Tebow as his QB.

I think both those guys (and Flores) will be better the 2nd time around. Most of their failures (unlike Patricia) were personality and roster management related, not on-field.

Don't disagree with your main point, but McDaniels was gone before Tebowmania. He drafted Tebow in 2010, but got fired 12 games into the season; Tebow never even started a game for him. The playoff run was the year after under John Fox.

Flores wasn’t a flameout. That one was on the Dolphins. Same applies to Nick Saban.

BOB was fine a HC; was awful as GM.

This is the most enigmatic hiring in recent memory. I hope he makes the playoffs next year so my mind can be absolutely blown.
I'd say "As far as I know" and "right now" were passive aggressive, but when has Culley been aggressive?
