Not quite sure where to put this, but Wickersham wrote a great piece on Andrew Luck:

It was a great story.

As it was written by Wickersham, I thought I detected a few shots at Brady (and Manning) in there regarding the perspective that if playing QB becomes your identity and permeates everything you do, you start doing things that go against the proverbial “best version of yourself”. It took Luck quite a while to break the mold; Brady has demonstrated that he cannot escape it and it has completely enveloped him.

Luck has always been a different cat. I'm really glad he had the courage and clarity to take an incredibly difficult step in order to put himself in a place he believed would lead to a happier existence, but I think if you go at this story with the mentality that every great athlete would have something to gain from doing the same, Luck's path just becomes fundamentally less interesting.

Agreed. People are different in what makes them tick mentally and for creating a genuine of well-being.
