We’ve had some great players. This one won us our first title in 86 years. Then 2 more.

Papi's night tonight.

I'll leave it for later to complain about the single greatest hitter I've ever seen lose his HoF eligibility.

(Yes, it's A.J. Pierzynski)

Someone had the signature for a while from NYYFans which was roughly "if we had signed Ortiz we could still be chanting 1918"

Thanks for that, Papi.

Super happy for Papi. Well-earned.

The crazy thing is that Bonds was, by miles, a better player than Ortiz. Oh well. Tough luck for him.

Yes. Though by perhaps an even larger margin, Bonds is also a worse human being, so there's that.

For the record, I would have voted for Bonds---I don't think we have any real idea who did and didn't do what in the 90s/2000s across MLB.

I learned about Papi making the Hall while I was watching the local news (Channel 5) with my family. At the end of the newscast, the banter among the presenters ran a bit longer than usual, and was about 90% David Ortiz and 10% big storm coming on Friday. Which seemed right to us. We’ll plan tomorrow for the storm on Friday. Today is about Big Papi.
