Aaaaaaand the Steelers - who, historically, CAN pick wide receivers - take George Pickens two picks later. I'm fine with drafting a fast WR, I just don't understand BB trades up for him.

Thornton was #155 on the consensus big board. Taking him ahead of Skyy Moore and Alec Pierce is certainly interesting….

I mean, in Bill we trust but from all of the information that we have available to us this is a pretty bad pick and that’s without taking into account the trade up

I really hope not taking Pickens doesn't come back to hurt the Pats. I mean the Steelers usually nail the WR picks. I hope Thorton works out.

22 years and people still think Belichick and the Pats draft room gives a shit about the 'consensus big board.'

These Big Boards didn’t have Malik Willis or Nakobe Dean still available fifty picks in, is what I will say.

Serious question…why is “in bill we trust” a valid cliche? He’s an unreal coach and has been an amazing exec overall, but can anyone argue he’s been a good drafter on balance over the last ten years? The pats are very short on young blue chip talent

BB knew a run on WR was coming and wanted to take his highest-rated one first.

Apparently Bill is putting on a masterclass in taking guys 50-75 spots ahead of their consensus projection to thwart another team from doing the same. Pretty amazing.

280 guys and I didn't watch him. He was 155th on Arif's board. I am temporarily shocked.

Here
IIRC, Kiper had barely heard of Logan Mankins and panned the pick. I've taken his dislike of BB's picks as a blessing ever since.
He panned McCourty and Gronk, too. Said Gronk was slow and had “bad hands,” and called McCourty a “Special Teamer.”
