11th rounder is looking pretty good, too.
The three high schoolers they picked from the 15th round on (Phoenix Call, Dylan Schlaegel, Robert Orloski) are all question marks. Everyone else should be expected to sign.
Got it. Thanks guysThe expectation is rounds 1-10 will sign.
It’s a good question but I think it’s mostly because the guys getting released are fairly unknown, and not so much of it happens midseason as generally not too many draft picks play that same season. FWIW, NY released two minor leaguers today.Curious. With all the draftees signing, presumably most will be assigned to the org a some level. Does this necessitate a corresponding promotion or cut from said rosters to make room for the new draftee’s? If so, why don’t I ever hear about players getting let loose?
There's no roster limit in rookie ball (the complex league) so they can put a lot of draftees down there without making cuts. I think nine draftees from the first ten rounds of the 2022 draft started with FCL assignments.Curious. With all the draftees signing, presumably most will be assigned to the org a some level. Does this necessitate a corresponding promotion or cut from said rosters to make room for the new draftee’s? If so, why don’t I ever hear about players getting let loose?
Wow, that's a lot of savings! He must've meant what he said with wanting Varitek prep time.
Agreed. All I can surmise is that they really like these kids. Here’s to hoping they’re right.A little surprised we had to go so far overslot for 2nd (50th) and 3rd (83rd) round picks* since the draft grades articles I've seen** were not particularly ecstatic about either the Zanetello or Anderson picks at their draft slots. I guess they were both late risers? Certainly Sox nailed it with previous late-riser Roman Anthony so will be happy to see pundits be proven wrong.
*$3m over $1.7m slot for Zanetello and $1.5m over $0.85m slot for Anderson
**Keith Law has Zanetello 33rd/Anderson outside top-100

Interesting, hadn't seen the Nats considering picking him 40th. Suspicious it can be that cut and try with so many moving parts though (many teams and many rankings). Was there reporting I missed on that being why they didn't sign Fabian? If anything the Sox not signing Fabian is evidence that these pre-draft agreements are not so cut and dry, since obviously they wouldn't have wasted the pick if they thought they weren't close. You are not bidding against their current ranking. You are bidding against what other teams are willing to pay them. It was reported that the Zanatello was in a bidding war between the Sox at pick 50 and the Nationals at pick 40. So the Sox had to promise him more than the Nats would have paid him. That is why Fabian didn’t sign with the Red Sox. He had a deal that would have paid him more at a later pick and the Sox took him anyway.
We have one pitcher with savage stuff & another who now has wow stuff.I'm guessing it's either a typo of AVG for average, or he has SAVAGE STUFF. I am choosing to believe the latter until I hear otherwise.
